Last I heard Star wasnt hiring. Your best bet is to drive local for a year then expand your wings. thats what i did. Because most companies you go with you have to go with a trainer if you are just out of school. Where do u live? good luck

you might want to look at the posts i haev replied to about star. i worked for them.
i stood up for them for 15.5 years. i did enjoy working for them and hoped for good things. but after the way they treated me in teh last 2 years, and what they did to me in june, when others haev done what i did 4 times and are still there, my feelings for them has changed alot. also seeing how they have lost accounts, is very sad.
they lost alot of great accounts. they even lost some of the cat accounts also.
so beware, you may begin to see what i am talking about. and remember you were fore warned.
they are good to start with. but right now all they care about is putting rookies in teh trucks and making their money off the rookies. the veterans will get less miles as they stay longer with the company. -
I work for star now. I am only here to get enough XP to get a local job. I dont know why anyone would want to stay with them for more then a year or two. The top end pay sucks and so does the vacation time. They do keep me moving and safety has always had my back. I really can't complain. Better then TMC.

Two log books? Their is so many ways to get in hot water with the companies and DOT doing things the RIGHT way, I can't imagine have double books but some guys like to live on the edge and thrive on get around hard circumstances by the way usually these are the guys that "jump on the grenade" for a buddy. They are just not afraid of sticking out thier necks. Sometimes rules are too stupid therefore people don't adhere uniformly to ALL rules. I hope this was intelliglble........I haven't had my fourth cup of coffee yet.

I had gotten my CDL with Star. I went to school in Hazelwood MO. The best things about em are their trucks are nice, comfortable and spacious. I started at .28cpm, 6 mths .30cpm, 1 year .31 cpm. They state that youll go with a trainer for 6 to 8 weeks. I spent 18 days with mine. Most people only do the 3 weeks. When I first started I got plenty of miles and hometime. after first raise, miles fell, hometime fell. When I was aproaching my 1 year I was running 1600 miles a week average and staying out for 17 - 22 days. I worked for them for 366 days. Fulfilled my 1 year contract. I just found out recently they put a 'violation of company policy' on my DAC report. I quit them almost 3 years ago. Star will not tell me what it is for. I have contacted HireRight to get it straightened out. Im not gonna tell ya Star is the greatest to start with, but as long as my MPG was 6.0 and idle stayed below 35% I never heard from them.
