Average 2800-3000 miles is a good average. This varies but is acurate when ageraged out over a year

Well here I go! Going out after orientation at Star Transport, Morton IL!! Going to Seguin, TX. That's 1150 miles there, and then the return trip = a total of 2300 paid miles in one trip. Then i have the rest of the week to pick up for...Maybe another trip before out of hrs and before the week end!!! Maybe a run to Georgia or South Carolina, that would round the week out nicely:biggrin_25519:!
    Peace Folks.

Yeah...! What's with the deal of a Trainer and Trainee running loads like like a team!!! I ran pretty much sleep deprived for over 4,000mi because I was not allotted a place for my CPAP machine (for sleep apnea) which is legal to have under DOT Regs. But I had no power to run it because you can't idle long enough to use for sleep purposes!!! I have a Great Trainer, but he has to sleep too and when he needs sleep.....I sleep across the front seats....That's not really getting rest as dictated under FMCSR. One week of that and I am a wreck!!!! Lucky to be home though, and now My elderly Parents need me here for the winter to help around the house, and have asked me to consider not going back out for the remainder of my "Training"....THERE GOES MY DAC!!!! i KNOW I"LL BE SCREWED NOW!!

On top of this, I go out and get a level 1 DOT on my first day because my "Trainer" just wanted me in the truck and we had to get out on the load delivery immediately. I know I should have said that a PTI needed to be done By Me, but He said to just log 15 min for PTI and go! I got from Davenport, IA to Harrisonville, MO and got pulled in at the weigh station, not because I was not loaded properly, but because there were 2 out of 4 upper cab lights out. I didn't seethis because it was day time when we left out and no lights were on. I was not allowed the time for a PTI, but when I took over at 10:15am He said to just flag a PTI and go straight to on duty driving at 10:30am. so I drive 392 miles and and get pulled in for DOT INSP at 6:30pm for the lights being out. DOT Officer asks me if I did the PTI and I had to say yes, and that the lights were working when i did it!!! Is this what a Trainer and Trainee situation with Star Transport, Morton Illinois is all about!??!, Run like the devil is on your tail and to hell with safety????
I am not saying My "Trainer" is a bad person, I am simply stating that Star Transport Morton, IL is more concerned with getting freight out and making their money off the Hard running of their drivers!! I drove 2,262mi on my portion of this weeks run just like I was a team driver, but won't get paid my $643.00 because I'm a "TRAINEE"...I get $350!!! By all my calculations.....I will be paid an average of $6.47 hr. for the miles I drove and the on-duty/not driving I logged!!!! Is this what I really signed up for after having Honey dripped in My ear at Orientation??? Big Freight Out-fits are not driver friendly!!

Drove for them about four years. Stayed about three years too long. "Home most weekends" translated to out six weeks and home saturday afternoon to leave sunday afternoon for four to six more weeks out. No preplanned loads so sat waiting for next run for anywhere between 3 hours to 3 days. In their defense I will say that they are a "starter" company that will give someone a chance and some experience, just don't stay on past the required year to pay back your schooling hoping it will get better because it won't.

I have a pre hire for them in hand right now and looking forward to getting my career started. I will admit I am a little worried about what I have seen in here but where lemons grow Dow some peaches grow for others! Thanks for giving me a chance star!!!
