I am starting orientation with them on the first of december. Not exactly where I wanted to go but they were the only ones that would hire me so I am going to try and stick it out for a year and then move on.

I was Hired buy Star (TN). Sounds like a good company. Take home truck, no pets, (sorry Doogan u got to stay at the grand parents) I have Orientation set up the week of thanksgiving. However If everything goes well with my background checks I might go with Prime. Drawback would be longer training compared to Star. Prime's training is 4-6 months Stars is only 4-6 weeks. Some may look at this as a bad thing, which I did at first, but then I though about 4-6 weeks that's kind of short for real world senarios. Think of all the stuff you half to learn about for Trucking, after all it is a buisness. Logs PMG's and the big thing road hazords. Prime is a larger outfit but then they have the mile if you are ready to work. I have seen a bunch of bad post about Prime, but the seem to come from ppl that what lots of home time and have no understanding of work ethics. Undisided

I have worked for both of those co's I would say go star.... You really learn when you are solo. You want to get paid as a trainee for 6 months or solo in 6 weeks?

I figure I would learn more over the 4-6 months, I may still learn the same stuff in 4-6 weeks, but I think if I have some one train me for 4-6m I would be a better solo driver after the training period. The pay as I understand with Prime is what ever is the most .12cents a mile of 600 a week which ever is the greatest of the too. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You don't need 6 months under someone's wing. I was not a trainee with either co. I do know that a co that pays you that little for 6 months is not concerned that you are being trained right. They are concerned that you are making them a lot of money.
