Yes you are assigned to your own truck, depends on your dispatcher. Mine always turned his head when i took my trk home. Star is an ok company to work for, a lot of hometime if u want it.

Just curious which "Star" are you asking about? The one out of Morton, IL that runs white Pete's with the red "Star" logo or the one out of Nashville, TN with white freightliners and a blue logo?

Star Transportation got bought out by Covenant. This was the first company I worked for. I got lucky and started out with a dedicated run and stayed with them for 3 years.. Good starting company but have seen it go down hill with Covenant.
Most companys run everything the same. Only difference is Miles/Hometime/Equipment.
I Currently run with Knight out of Nashville ( New Terminal ) and love it. Got my truck with 4 miles on it 3 saturdays ago. Home for this weekend and its got 10500 miles on it so far. You do the math they are running my ### off. Ive been home alot.

I drove for them back when they ran Pete's.. I stayed with them only for 2 months, and that was to long.

They're a regional outfit that doesn't typically run 48 states and gets drivers home every weekend. Lots of southeast, northeast, and midwest. For what it's worth, from talking to a number of star drivers, they were a decent outfit before Covenant took over. I remember a small perk they used to allow (but dont any more) their drivers with 10 years or more seniority was to spec their own company truck whatever make/model the driver wanted. I seriously doubt they've quit hiring newbies but the only way to know for sure would be to call and see.
