worked for them a couple of years. really didnt have a problem. they were my first company to work for, sent me to oregan on my first trip alone. later on i took out a tree in new york, but all in all, pretty fair. guess it all depends on your dispatcher, but i was home almost every weekend. west tennesse.

I also worked for them. Pretty decent company. Home most week ends. The only thing I would be worried about with them is Covenant bought them out. I am still in contact with one of their drivers and he says that so far they haven't changed.

They bought them out last summer, don't remember the date, but it was after UPS bought out OverNite. To late to call him tonight, but I will call him Thursday when I get home for an update on them.

sevenmph, I talked to him tonight. He said so far there has been no changes since they were bought out. I know this driver from another board when he was a student. I helped him pick out his first company. Since he started driving he seldom gets online anymore. I am trying to get him to join this board. If you see the username MoeZak also his CB handle it will be him. He is a nice guy. He would be more than happy to answer any questions you have. My wife and I got to meet him last year while on vacation. If you see him on here, just give him a shout.

I was hired by Star on 21 March 2007 and now I am waiting for a trainer to call me so I can start driving. I did the Orentation in Nashville TN which was 2 1/2 days. They flew me on Southwest airlines from my home in Palm Bay FL there and back. Received a call a week later for a trainer that was from Va and they wanted me to take a Greyhouse bus from Palm Bay FL back to Nashville to meet him. I declined and told them I would wait for a trainer that was closer to my home in FL. Received another call from them the the next week telling me of a trainer that lives in Kissimmee FL. So as of today I am still waiting for that trainer to call me so I can start my trainer. According to Star, you have to drive 10,000 miles with the trainer before being assigned your own truck. They start you at .14 CPM while with the trainer and then .30 CPM once you are on your own.
