Unhappy Low Pay.... Poor Time At Home

If you want low pay starting at .26 cpm and don't mind not seeing your family and friends for 3 to 6 weeks at a time then Stevens is the place for you. The only thing that I can say good about them is that they have good equipment The Kenworth T-2000's are nice. They turn off the Jake brake and cruise control for the first 6 months with rookie drivers. Not a place to stay long term, just a place to get some training and expierence under your belt.

if you are looking to make a change and want to stay with reefer you might look at Transam. I'm not a recruiter, just a former driver. I started out at 30 cpm with just a few months driving experience.

Another option for "less than 1 yr driving experience" is as of May 1, 2007, get $0.34/mi at KLLM. Go now, get $0.32 or $0.33/mi then the $0.34 on May 1.

Their website clearly states how much you will make when you go there and the recruiters are up front about how long you'll run. I have a pre-hire with them right now, but have not decided to go there yet or not. I've talked to a couple of solo drivers for stevens and they seem to be happy. They said that though the per mile is lower they have been getting more miles in due to less stop-offs and said they rarely have to wait for loads. They said they run both dry and reefer loads.
The 3-5 weeks out at a time with a week off afterwards is something they tell you before you get hired. My recruiter told me that since I live along the I5 corridor the chance is seeing home during that 3-5 weeks out is good. Just not sure how you can complain about 3-5 weeks out and low mileage pay when this is something they tell you up front and is clearly stated on the website.
Again, I have not decided whether or not stevens is for me but compared to some others it seems like a good place to at least get some experience if you are coming out of school like me.

K
They just updated that policy too
Atleast in apr
you can get your cruise at 6 months
But jakes are disabled till your 1 year with them
IMO its foolish to disable a safty feature
I can understand the Cruise but Jake?

Use caution All companies will say what you want to hear
Please save your self frustrations
and read all the complaints here
a little note
A recruter gets paid 100 bucks to show up at a school
I know I did it 3 times
Before i really saw what stevens was
Low miles I can understand while you are new
But 2000 miles a week at almost a year with the company
They dont tell you this
And hardly waiting for a load?!?
I waited 3 days for loads alot
Especially when in the meat patch
IBP Tyson was sunonomase for keeping us waiting
as is walmart distrobution centers
A week home?
That NEVER happens NEVER!
you can be home for 1 day for every 1 week out
up to 6 days
on the 7th they take your truck
Remember look around
Good luck in your new endever

Yeah I learned alot off this site from when I first posted my reply to this thread...Needless to say I chose NOT to go with Stevens. Want to thank everyone for the education on this company!
I'm Schneider bound which doesn't appear to be in the same poor catagory that Stevens is in.
