Still training at a local truck driving school, just wondering, should consider Stevens as a starter company once I get out of school? Any and all advice will be considered. Thanks!
Should I consider Stevens?

where are you going to school at?

Seeing where you live, one of your main considerations is a location to park your truck on hometime. You will be required to leave your truck at an approved location, such as a Kenworth/Peterbuilt, ThermoKing. or Utility trailer dealer.
Are there any close by?
Stevens has traffic to the area, but it is mostly by trainer's getting the mountain training for their student.
Solo's do go, so getting you home probably would not be a problem. Just you getting from the parking spot to your home.0260 Thanks this. -
Considering the poor hometime, and low pay, plus truck parking requirements,,
you might prefer other companies.
Then again, stevens may be a good fit for you.
Good Luck !!! -
Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to school in WA. It seems like a lot of companies have parking locations out of the way for me. I'm a good distance from Seattle pretty much in the mountains up north. I'm not sure how many companies would let me take a truck home, so I'm expecting to have to park between 20-50 miles from home. I doubt either the Kenworth or Peterbilt service centers would allow me to park in their lot. There are quite a few utility trailer dealers off I-5 north of Marysville, WA though. I'm just trying to compile a list of companies to send apps out to. I've read some decent things about Stevens and some not so decent things, but most of the not so decent things seems to be industry wide such as: hometime (or lack thereof), pay, truck parking, etc. I just don't like to put all my eggs in one basket so I'd like to have a few options. My list so far goes a little something like this:
1. System Transport Inc.
2. TWT (I know that #1 & #2 are both part of Trans-System Inc.)
3. Watkins & Shepard
Somewhere AFTER the first 3: Stevens Transport, May Trucking, Schneider National... -
0260 and Jackofalltrades1977 Thank this.

Finding a parking location in Sedro Wooley or Mt Vernon shouldn't be a problem.
What are you looking for in a starter company?
With Stevens, you'll be getting structured training that will stick with you for life.
Getting home shouldn't be a problem. There are others in much more remote locations than Granite Falls that get home regularly.0260 Thanks this.
