I talked to a driver who had these on his company rig the other day. He told me that he had a hard time with hydroplaning when they were worn down.
I think any tires-including duals-have that issue when the tread is worn down. Still investigating!

If I am not mistaken, Flying J and Pilot are running "super singles" on both the tractor and trailer of their fuel trucks here on the east coast. Little Debbie is going to all "super singles".

Stopped in at the Fort Wayne Indiana truckers appreciation day at the truckstop there on Wednesday, walked around for a bit. Talked to the guy carrying the X-1's for a bit, got pricing from him. Right now, he is getting in the 1300 dollar range for each tire and rim, minus whatever credit you get for your tradeins. So figure 5200 dollars for a tractor set. Not cheap by any means.
As for liquid tankers, they can make gains from the weight advantage because the load can be loaded precisely by the gallon, is always distributed the same, and they haul by volume. As long as it's loaded with the same number of gallons, the weight never changes on a tanker, so if you want to load to 79980 and have it distributed right, you'll always be legal and loaded to the max. I agree though, one of them blowing out must be spectacular to see. -
ok gents, the supre singles are good tires but you have to figure in down time, road calls and the price of a new rim in a blowout.i work on tractor, trailers.i fix just about anything and i've done 1200.00 road calls when someone has blown a single.dont get me wrong but unless you work for a big company, the average o/o wont touch them.dont let some slick
salesman take you to the bank,DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!!!!! they are good tires but thay can also stick you in your ********* -

Thanks for the information! Couple of questions...
How many times is the rim destroyed in your service calls?
What in the world caused a $1200 service call for a tire? -
I don't know about the highway singles, but the super singles we run on the front of big straight jobs do a lot of damage when they blow. Last fall we had one go on a 2500 IHC and it ripped the fender off. bent the bumper. and twisted the front cab mount.
