Running hard like that bought us a house outright and put away a nice nest egg for the kids college fund. When we quit we had a nice nest egg put away to start a new life. We always had good trucks to run in once we were established. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I do it again? Probably.
We ran that hard with Brian and Danny in the truck. We have faith in our abilities and faith in the trucks we bought to make our runs in. The rest we left in God's hands.
We were young and dumb. Just farm kids who had never seen so much money in our lives. In one month we could bring home what my dad made all year building furniture in his workshop and framing houses. Neither one of our families were middle class. Once those cheques came in, we were hooked. We got greedy and thank God we quit when we did to do something else.

Back in the good old days there was a lot of this going on.IMO most drivers then had been driving for years did not use the nose candy just had a co driver named Bennie. Now days you have more traffic more young drivers that go to Truck driving school not the school of hard knocks.Safe maybe not but if you never wrecked and your still alive you did something right.

Saw him 2 times. One time in July of 1997 Was on a long run Avon NY to Stockton CA Southern Route Via El PAso with Cool Whip. Last day of the run was dead tired called my dad had just had bypass surgery the week before and I was not really ready to go back out but had to to pay bills for my parents. So his but in broad daylight 2 miles from Stockton CA made delivery fine then went to the Flying hook down the road there on 99 in Ripon and Selpt thru a Screaming Meanie on LOUD after 15 hours.

Next time was in 2000 after 44 hours in the seat HOT and I MEAN HOT load in from Salinas CA for Wal-Mart if the company was late we lost the contract. Made the relay so another driver could make delivery on time with 30 mins to spare Saw it 20 miles out of Salem Crashed out at my now Ex-wifes apt.

Hate to tell you this Big D you best BUd Rev still does not Beleive EVERYONE that Parley has a runaway ramp from the left hand LANE it took 3 drivers showing him PICS that I was right. I routinely took 80K down that with no jakes. Big D all you would have to do would man up and call my last company to verify that Salinas run heck I think they still talk about it sometimes. But then again you think that you are PERFECT yet in my prime I would have run you under the table in my company units castrated to 65 simply because I kept the left door closed.

Is that back when you were taking drugs while driving? note to mods: ironeagle confirmed this in another thread, so it isn't really slander, now is it?
