If you mean can he just stay out there indefinitely - the answer - yes! I know several truckers whose truck is there "permanent home". They have no apartment, house, nothing. Ocassionally they stay in a hotel, go to friend's houses, but - I guess they love the lifestyle.

To each his own....

That is the way that I am ... I dont have a permanent residence .... nor do I need one .... its just me and my dogs

When I need time out of the truck and I am on the road .... I get a room for the weekend or a couple days .... if I am in the area then I stay at my folks place

Saves on money .... would rather pay $100 a month for a room for a couple days .... than pay $600 + for rent for something I will see a couple days a month

There are some that have no choice having a family at home .... but for me .... I would rather be on the road .... been sitting at my folks 2 weeks for xmas .... and READY to head out in the morning

I would like to design a Truck designed for the Trucker who lives on the move!
A shower.
A schmidt house.
A cooking utensil (not sure about the micro-wave yet)
A folding treadmill.
Of course a good mattress for a hard earned run's SLEEP/REST.

R U a O/O? I can understand then the desire to be Busy and driving OTR. If U like it and are good at it , go on with your goodself.
Your post (profile) says "Hell" , describe if you want a day in hell for you.
I hope U enjoyed your time off the truck and on steady ground ( don't U get sea legs almost or your ears ring all the time ) at your folks place. They probably enjoyed your time w/them ,too!
Just U and your dogs, what breed of dogs ?

I have a Rotti, I would need a "Hoist" to get him in a Big Rig. He is a Rescue Rotti, I drove 529 miles one way to get him. A lil over 2 yrs for him and I , he is a pi**er!

Dunno, but I was definitely - not the brightest bulb on the block when I started driving.
On a sidenote, we have a driver that is - 70 something years old - who started driving, if you can believe this, in: drum rolllllll.............1955!! He is STILL driving! You wanna hear some stories......lol......I find it fascinating what they did WAY back when.

interesting about no perm. address...
what state is your license from? how do you recieve mail?
i've been looking into that, but to change my current address, i'd need a new one, and to get the new one, i'd need to rent something somewhere and have a bill(cable, lectric, phone) at that address.

Any advice?

last question first, you might be able to go to one of those private mailbox places, you get a post office type box, but it shows as a street adddress.

first question, well, how about old and dumb??

49 hours nonstop, several more times than i want to think about. i ran a heavy wrecker out of denver for 8 years, the 2 companies i worked for ran me into the ground. 2 times stick in mind, first was the blizzard of march, 03. got 3 hours sleep sunday night, got rolled out early on monday (i normally was afternoon/night driver) didn't get home until almost 10am on wednesday, got 6 hours sleep, and back out for almost 40 more. i spent 30 hours of that on gennesse (I70, up the hill out of denver) pulling stuck trucks out and up to the exit to turn around (if anyone was in that mess, i was the only one there most of the time, in the red kw wrecker) 2nd time, was pure mismanagement, i was scheduled to run to ft worth, day dispatcher called me in, ran me all day, every tow started with "i know you need sleep, but i'm all backed up, one more then you can get some sleep) end result, i left for ft worth after 24 hours straight, and ran 1523 miles nonstop round trip. made it back (not sure how) fot home, crawled (litterally) in my front door and went to sleep on the floor, woke up 5 hours later, got a shower and went to bed. boss had the nerve to call me 3 hours later and say he needed me for a wrecked big truck. told him to go **** himself and hung up, he came to my house, beat on the door until i answered it, and told me if i didn't come in, i was fired. i went, worked a rolled semi, then had to stay for my "assigned" 12 hour shift before i could go home.

i have run 1200 mile tows straight thru, because he stated that the fuel cost too much for any of us to stop and sleep, he'd call after a 4 or 5 hour nap and scream at us to get back on the road if we stopped

i used to fill out logs in his name when i ran out of hours, and tape them to his offce door, with a magic marker note, "here, sign these, i'm out of hours again" (and his door was in the main lobby, where customers, cops, and everyone else came in)

now? i'm a little older, not much wiser, and i'm in iraq to get far enough ahead ($$$ wise) that i will NEVER work like that, or for someone like that, EVER AGAIN
