    Hi everyone,

Recently posted in the Welcome Wagon.....this forum had gotten my attention since I have been looking to sign on with SC. I've been a driver for about 16 years and do have tanker experience (currently driving for a tanker company now). I've been looking to making the move to SC since they have been recommended to me by several driver friends due to the friendliness and the fact that the turnover rate is lower. I had wanted to get away from the typical van-based stuff and do something different.

I put in my app online at SC earlier this week, out of the Pasadena location. TM was very nice and had a decent interview, and made a copy of my CDL and TWIC card. Haven't heard anything back yet, but the TM did let me know that they have been transitioning to a new software setup and seemed to take longer to figure out. I should hopefully know something by Monday.

I was told that there was lots of local and regional stuff that he needs drivers for, so looks like I may have a good opportunity here. I also like the flexibility of the hometime too, though I live in the Houston area I still like to travel to MI from time to time to visit friends (Holland and GR areas, having lived there).

But first thing's first is to get approved and go from there. If all works out I look forward to joining SC, getting away from the typical mega-carrier companies. Having tank experience and all will definitely help as my training shouldn't be too long.

Are there any drivers here that are based out of the Pasadena TX terminal? And for the experienced drivers that were hired on how long was your training? Just trying to learn as much as I can.

    Thanks!

I don't run out of Pasadena but they are a good terminal to run out of. A friend of mine, Dan, runs out of there. He has been there a couple years now and they keep him plenty busy. If you are an experienced driver your training probably won't last but a week, maybe two at the most.

Welcome to TTR. Hope its to SPCR as well. Twicebit is a poster here who got on with Superior as a rookie running out of Pasadena but he hasn't posted in a while. David is a trainer and can tell you anything you need to know about that.

Thanks for the welcome! I have read many of your posts in the long thread you had in your dedicated runs in the Chicago area and back and found them very informative and an insight on how you deal with the customers on a regular basis. I thought it was pretty cool that you've done deliveries in the Holland MI as well since I used to live there. I'm hoping to do local work, but I don't have a problem in doing some regional (or dedicated as the TM told me) as needed.

If I run into David I will surely ask a few questions. I'll probably be able to find out more on what I need to know once I get further in the process.

I wonder if they got the permament extension to their fertilizer account...That's 30-50 loads a week out n back and a total cakewalk. I got to run it for a week and a half over the holidays and it was the easiest money. Had me thinking real hard about relocating lol.

Welcome aboard. Never had anything but good experiences in Pasadena. Avery is a super nice guy, even bought me lunch off the lunch truck one day.

Where did these runs go to? A friend of mine knows someone that works there and had mentioned that there were alot of dedicated out-and-back runs that had opened up. I'll have to inquire about that.

Yes Avery is quite nice, even on interview day it was just one of those moments where you didn't feel like you were interrogated like in a courtroom setting. Other carriers, especially the mega-ones need to take note.
