If you have 3 years driving, there are better companies out there !!!

As a reply to the previous message about Gainey. I had been with Gainey for about 7 months. I was a team driver. My partner and I both needed to see our doctors for different problems. When we got home for long needed home time we went to our doctors. My partner had collapsed soon after getting home and his doctor had shut him down for at least 3 weeks pending test results. I had a smaller problem but my doctor told me I needed to see a specialist. He got me an appointment 3 days later. Told my driver manager my situation at which point I was told that I had to leave the next morning alone on a trip that clearly would not get me back in time for the appointment. I asked him to give me the time needed. The next possible appointment I could get with this doctor was over a month away. The next morning I called in and was told that both me and my partner had been terminated. We were very good drivers.. We had always been on time and had done our jobs in a professional way. After some research after the fact- we discovered that while Gainey provided insurance they were self insuring meaning they wanted the premiums coming but do not use the insurance when you needed it. We were terminated because they saw the possiblity of serious outlays of money. Termination would discovered later had been done several days before.. This is only one complaint I have . This company made many promises as to what was expected of us and what our home time would be.. The truth is they really did not care.. After talking with many Gainey drivers it became clear that there intention was to get everything they could out of every driver and then dump them-hiring new drivers without experience so they could do the same thing all over again. Oh, by the way, I ahve not even discussed the maintenence of their vehicles.. Every mechanic I talked told me personally that they were to keep the trucks running at all cost.. Cheap cost. Fix only what is absolutely needed for the truck to run.. Do not spend money on shocks, heaters, ac, seals. I ran in trucks that were leaking , hot in summer, freezing in winter, gauges that did not work, and bad brakes.. Among other things... MY POINT IS THIS!!!!Stay away from Gainey or you just might get killed.. It is not worth it!!! If the new owners are changing things then great.. My advice--if you go to work for them --- get it all in writing .. A contract of some sort--They have a lot to prove!!!!!!!

Gainey use to be the top company out there. I use to work with them back in 1998, they trained me and I stayed that for 5 years. Since he sold that company to people in AZ I heard that it went to hell.

they are cheap as far as maintenance, anything that they can delay in fixing, they will...until it breaks.

they finally are giving out ezpasses,i have been sending messages about this for awhile...trks are in bad condition,old...but they ARE buying new ones, just not enough. ive never had a trk near 700k miles until i came to this company.

alot of the trailers are old etc,but i havent had problems w/ sliding tandems like i did at werner...not as many trlr's left sitting in the customers yard w/ flat tires, waiting for you to pick it up...so thats positive.

my largest complaint was having to pay for tolls, but theyre giving out ezpasses...my 2nd largest complaint would prly be low pay, with how many years experience i have,i should be making more than LOW 30 cents/mile,and thats WITH per diem which IS NOT optional(required) which i hate also..

safety rating is terrible, mostly because of log violations and speeding which is related to the fact that they basically bump you down a notch if you dont run the loads that they want you to run. even if it takes driving 16 hrs in a single day..they wont say it over the qualcomm, but they might call you...in any case it is implied, and its happend to me more than a few times.. expect to have alot of inspections by the DOT because of this if you come to the company, level 1,2,3...youll see it all.

i have refused loads due to not possible w/ hrs that i had and then have gotten terrible miles afterwards.

overall,i would say that if you have problems w/ your driving record including accidents,a felony or lack of work history...this company will hire you if you want a job...otherwise i would suggest finding another company.

Well, Well, Well, Man I'm So Glad I Quit Gainey They Are A Horrible Company. They Started California Operations Back In 2004 or earlier man they had a drunk named david who was divorced from his wife and lived at the terminal in the A/C unit room........No BS that is real talk he was an alcoholic................
then once we finished orientation we went to the ontario, ca airport to pick up some rental cars to go to grand rapids, mi where we were put into some of the nastiest, dirtiest non compliance with DOT Regulation trucks in the industry i felt like a one of those truckers who lived deep in the south and drove a diesel about 20 yrs old when they gave me my truck.....some of the guys that were in my orientation class were pulling gallon bottles of piss out of their rigs and they came in the HQ's Complaining about how disgusting their rigs were...........when i got my rig they wanted to send me out and i said hell no i cleaned my rig for 5 hrs....... I took my truck to meijers and bought all types of cleaning supplies and so when i finished i went all the way down to indiana to the blue beacon and had the rig washed from top to bottom.......I had to run really hard to make a 1000 a wk b/c they were trying to gip me on miles and when i wanted to go home in california it was take a load here and one there and one here just to go home. Gainey was always sending me into New York or New Jersey a placed called seacaucus, Nj to pick up loads to go into new york where the streets are really tight to manuever around........So I quit and got out of the trucking industry altogether one thing i learned was the only sucessful trucker is an owner operator so if i do go back into trucking it's going to be a o/o.........................................................thx for reading my belly gripe....but may peace from the man upstairs surround you forever and be safe.............................

Do you remember the name of the tall red-haired truck driver with his portrait hanging in the company lobby.
I think he the owner's son, he owes me some money.
