Hello fellow swifties! I want to run this by you all before I possibly make a big deal out of it k?

I have been out on my normal 5-7 weeks out and of course ended up on the east coast and midwest like usual. My hometime( In Phoenix) was coming up in about 5 days and i don't really get too upset if i'm not back right on a certain date, just like to see that i start to move in that general direction as I have never had a problem with it at all.

I had been having a horrendous week with alot of canceled pp,shippers cancelling, long waits at shippers and recievers,so short miles and during all that rain from a tropical storm (nicole) fun!

Anyways after getting shafted with 2 cancelled runs at westvaco in covington Va.( because we didn't have any mt trls at shipper to load) my hrs ran out and I stayed their for my 10.

Middle of the night get a pp for a late appt load that was a repower load in the opposite direction of home.I hit the home time request and refused it.It was sent back to me with a backed up P&G load that worked all the way from delaware to cali and T call in phoenix cool!(had the hrs and perfect set up from the repower)

well before I deliver repower my dm tells me my home load is cancelled!
She'll get me something else.( to houston and it doesn't work with my hrs) long story short since then moved me pretty steady untill I get to El Paso.

    Pta is set for 0700 and I get a pp,great I think! going to nj :( .
I declined and said thank you great load but need to go home. next morning I get 5 different pp all great loads(were are these loads when I want to do them!)all in the wrong direction,I ask my dm whats up with this(not my dm hasn't been in all week!) and I continually decline, say thank you but am really ready to go home!) finally the last one someone(planner I think tells me i need to talk to my dm b4 declining a load) wtf!
My dm knew this info and wants me to decline pp for hours or hometime.
finally a pp to california and have to ask to get it tcalled in phoenix b4 i take it.

I know a long post, but I have never had anything happen like this (having planners use loads home as inducement to do other loads, and yeah i take all kinds of loads),i only refuse them if my hrs really don't work for it.Also never had planners be so disrespectful of my hometime request,so I really don't know what to think, but thinking about a dedicated run or even(gasp!) working for somebody else after this.Does this crap just happen or is it something else? Thanks guys and gals.

    fr8monkey,
I had this same thing happen to me on my last home time.
What I did to stop the pp from coming I just sent a message 10 change my times and that stop the pp from coming.
This all was around 19:00 at night and still had hours left to drive. Instead i change my pta to 08:00 and # about 06:00 i got a load that would get me home.
I'm also pissed that I have to keep fighting for lay over pay when swift send me a pp saying it is a drop and I brake my butt to get there as fast as i can only when I arrive to do the drop the customer tells me that I have a live unload for 09:00 Sunday and it is 20:00 on Friday night.

The other complaint that I have is when you get a pp the miles are never even close to the actual drive miles and then after you get the pp the directions come along with the fuel stop.
I had on the other day that the fuel stop was 30 mile north of my pick and then had to come back the 30 miles to get the load.
I had to fight with my DM to get the extra mileage pay and when he looked at the route gave me the mileage pay quickly, but when it come to layover pay he tells me it take about 2-3 wk and it will show up in my pay.

To be honest I don't think I will be with then much longer.

Have a good day and be safe out there

also, there is the magic in the mac 9...and saying 'N' for accepting. then you "x" the hometime request. They'll get the picture.

But your "normal" 5-7 weeks...are you kidding? That might be your thing, but sure as heck isnt mine. 2-3 weeks tops, and i'm home for a couple days.

as far as loads cancelling, what i find is they actually do cancell half the time. the other half, you're told it cancels, but what really happens, is some guy who is running team whines to his DM enough saying how he's been sitting for a day (when its really been only 3 hrs) and they take the load off you, and put it on their truck. it happens, and i know it does.

was on my way to Morris, IL. to drop a Costco load off, and i had a PP for another Costco running north to Green Bay. would have used up the whole day which worked out perfect. BEEP....load cancelled. I get another costco run to KC for the next morning. BEEP...load cancelled. Now i wonder if the planner thought i wouldnt check in on it. Turns out the Green Bay load did actually cancel. But the KC load? yep...u guessed it....went out on a "O/O"s truck that morning, and i waited half a day to get rollin' on my costco run to Ohio. so if you see alot of loads start cancelling....you'll know why.

Yes I think those canceled preplans are in fact going out to L/O's and O/O's. But to have your hometime canceled as well that's like double hurt.

I got a total of 3 preplans yesterday. The 1st 2 came right next to each other in time, kinda like 'choose 1'. I saw that one was simply take my mt trailer to this place and drop it and go pick up a preloaded trailer at this other place. Easy money. On the way to get the second pp, beep beep, 3rd preplan now, I accepted it because looked like if they unload me quick I can jam up the 100 miles to go get it with an hour to spare.

So I get to the second place hook the loaded trailer boom boom loaded call won't go through, not my load I'm told. Hmm I'm 87 miles away and it doesn't deliver til 9 am we'll see whose load lol I just shut down while hooked to it at the DC kinda hiding the trailer number with the tractor and hoping some lazy driver wouldn't think to look at the trailers with trucks attached (if it belonged now to a L/O). I woke up about 2am and sent a message asking about it and a new crew was in now said yes take it! Next morning when I'm unloaded get a message from day crew planners 'umm are you gonna be ontime for pickup over there? (3rd load). Yep 1 hour to spare on arrival.

I did all that hustling and stressing on those 2 loads (I left a lot of details out like being delayed at Love's because someone blocked up the parking lot exit by dragging his trailer over Averitt's hood and at the mt trailer drop place, a guy blew 2 tires on his trailer when he dragged it into a corner barricade) like they wanted me to take the mt trailer I dropped on 1st load to 3rd shipper on arrival stuff like that messages back and forth nobody knows what's going on etc, fueled at the fuel stop on the 2nd pp dispatch but after it was taken off me then put back on the fuel route had changed but I didn't know that til empty call and fresh new dispatch. Hope they don't charge me for the fuel.....

    Hometime:

About 7 days after hometime put in your request. I've only been home a few times since June (solo) and only once due to a home call. The rest of the times I happened to be rolling through and could stop at terminal and jam home for a couple hours then back and hit the road.

I'll tell ya a little story....I was in Edwardsville many months ago. Sitting out back, and there were a few lease drivers, and a few co. drivers. started talking about how long we've been 'sitting', and if we had a preplan or not. I mentioned i had a load p/u a t-call in the morning going 800 mi to Tenn. LATE that night...*BEEP*....unplanned.

still had the load number, so i went to the dispatch window, spoke with my buddy whos a planner there....and tells me the notes say that it was taken off me and put on the L/O because he said he had been sitting for 2 days. I spoke with the guy hours before, he had got to the terminal THAT DAY. So after he found out i had a nice little load, he called his DM....cried and cried to him/her and got them to yank the load off me.

this is why i NEVER talk about loads i'm under or planned on anymore. He got an earfull the next morning, when i saw him at the driver window picking up his paperwork. Walked up to him, talking all "buddy buddy" like we were the night before, then said rather loudly, "So that was the load i had, that you got your DM to steal from me because you said you had been sitting for 2 days, when in fact, you had only been sitting 12 hours? Is that how it goes??"

He turned really flush, started st-tt-t-t-t-t--tuttering, and got out of the building as fast as his fat butt could manage. all w-w-w-w-w-without saying much of a-a-a-a-a-aanything. I was so ticked, i wanted to kick him in the junk.
