i dont mind if my dm sets my pta, when authorized... but what gets my goat is when you refuse stupid milkman routes and the local paper boy routes and then the planners set yer pta out so far you wont get a pp and dont know it till ya do a mac30 and get the 'yer pta is more than 18hrs out'..

i got into it with memphis for doing this and was told im not allowed to curse on the qc.. so i went inside to express my opinions.. memphis.. why do we even have that rathole

Here at the Loves, just west of Texarkana. Truck finally done at 1100 and set my PTA for 1115, and the good old planners, send me a pplan for a load that was ready this morning, send it to me at 1700 and they wanted it delivered 400 miles by 0600. Refused, up all day and not running all night, on a load that was ready this morning. Soup out of Paris. Also, I was going to need to hunt an mt. Then they also back it up with a live load at 2000 tomorrow and want that 700 miles on the 8th, by 2000. Not pulling two all nighters in a row, plus it was delivering up in Joilet, and after the storm, then get stuck up there on a Friday night, not happening.

    I've never been told that.

I go as far as necessary to get to someplace I (I...) feel is a safe place to park.
One time I delivered out east, and the closest truck stop was 40 miles away. My DM told me to just get somewhere safe, even if it meant 40 miles.

The true waste of resources would be to be involved in an accident because you parked on an on/off ramp and someone hit you.
Or parked somewhere unsafe and had the truck broken into or stolen (possibly with your dead body tossed out).

I think they were mad at me because I kept turning down their loads, well I take that back, I changed the delivery times on a couple of loads and they were straight up removed. Then some time later received a message that my times were cool, proceed. Then I was looking at the snow coming down more and more and moved my PTA out to the next day. That's when the PTA update came through at the present time, and the 'planner are expecting you to be ready'. Then the 'mess with you' preplans started rolling in one after the other, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia, Pennsylvania, note that all these places were or about to be swamped by the snowquester. Most of them had impossible or nearly impossible delivery times, like pick up at 2000 two stops, first stop 0600 next stop 0800 and final at 1700- 400 loaded, 59 empty. I turned them all down then they had the audacity to resend them because I failed to put a 'reason' for turning them down.

They really aren't watching that close (I hope not) so you can get away with moving the truck a significant distance after your empty call to some hot and cold running water and real flushing toilets. I was parked next to a company Swifty in Lodi CA, he had come in from Oakland CA some 70 miles away. The bad news for him, his next load picked up in Richmond CA so they only paid him like 22 empty miles for his over 140 miles of work.

The roads in Chicago are all good now. I don't know what is up with the planners, must be some new program where they are making the loads extra tight on time, I wonder if they have an office pool going on, 'let's hold this load all day and which ever planner gets a driver to take it last minute all night wins the pot'. Load I have now, pick up at 1000 and deliver 1500 miles 1000 2 days later. I asked what the windows are, reply-- 'if you need more time macro 22'. I wanted to know for a reason hello? I was close to a 34 hour break. So I put in 1700 on the loaded call lol, That got someone's attention and they said no later than 1630. My GPS is showing 1515 right now 1140 miles out and two 30 minute pretrips and one more fuel stop, not to mention pee and Abby breaks, gonna be very close.

Rest area in Missouri, south Texas bound.

"I'm tired of layin' back, hangin' around,
I'm gonna catch that train, then I'll be city bound."
