Do the different colored trucks mean anything? Is there a way to tell a trainer truck from a solo driver truck or a team truck?

    OK, here goes:

My number one gripe, hands-down, is when I am given information that is generic in nature (such as available pick-up or delivery hours are 0700 until 1600). It gets to the point that when I see this, I don't believe it even if it's true.

So I guess what I'm saying is....if you're in Customer Service, why then do we have to check out information so often for accuracy? Isn't part of customer service assuring the customer gets the best possible service? And isn't part of that making sure drivers have the correct info so they don't have to waste time making calls and sending Qualcomm messages to get the right info?

Absolutely my biggest peeve. And it's the same every-frickin-where, for the most part.

Most of the time, if the truck is not white, its a owner-operator.

Well this isnt exactly what I was looking for, but I am a former driver, though its been a few years.

Not really. In the mountains, pay attention to what you are doing, watch your speeds. But then, I was never really scared to drive anywhere. Cautious, but not scared.

..or dedicated? I'm pretty certain I saw some black Swifts at a Dollar General DC in South Carolina but that was a couple years ago.

    This is a great question.

Most of my customers the information is accurate.

However, there are cases where this is not true. Here is how it works.

ABC Company says "I have freight to pick up at XYZ company. We want you to take it to our warehouse in New Jersey".

So we call the shipper and are given a time to pick up. Most times if we are given a window, it is accurate. However there are times when it is not.

My point is, the times are given to us by the customer, 99% of the time. In other cases, say a drop-and-hook, we are given a time that the load will be ready.

We dont come up with the times ourselves. If there are mistakes, its from the shipper or the customer. Not to say that mistakes are not made internally, but its usually the customer making changes. Which is also why you may see delivery or pickup times change.
