Seriously 10 days, or "a fish this big 10 days"? Because if I were a driver manager, my driver would not be sitting for 10 days. The only reason a driver would be sitting that long is because they dont want to take another truck and are waiting for an engine to be rebuilt.

No, I really do not believe anyone sat 10 days just for that reason.

Believe it, shortage of trucks, shortage of mechanics, and poor management. Ok so truck A has issues they choose to leave it at this shop in a waiting list of about 90 currently, this isn't an exaggeration. When a backup of vehicles has occurred at other companies I have worked at something is done, like sending them out to outside shops, something. What would be the first thing you would do as a DM to get your driver moving? Mine tried to get me to roll to another location, but mine isn't drivable. Tried to get into another truck, but none to drive no go and is what a handful I have talked to tried already. Sitting here in the lounge I talked to 5 drivers that have been in and out of the shop, problem is Lancaster shop gets these trucks and does not fix them, they come right back. This creates an endless loop of truck repairs, my truck has been here since Monday, it is still in line not being working on.

A driver here yesterday went through the channels of calling up the ladder at Swift to get something done yesterday. He came in boasting about it, "I did 3 hours of phone calls and got em to get some work done", well he is here still today even after calling over 10 different people at this company, he is still parked near my truck. I am not here to spread any kind of rumors, take my first post as reality. This terminal is worst in class. I want you to do this, come to this terminal and ask anyone here in this lounge what they are here for. Most likely the shop, how long 5-10 days on the average, is this the first stop in this shop, no because the guy writing up the reports chooses to put the incorrect info or doesn't even attempt to write half the stuff people need to have repaired to be safe out on the road.

A driver that has worked here for over 8 years was talking about sending all the mechanics home and giving the dealers like volvo, international, freightliner all the work. They simply cannot provide adequate service at the Swift Lancaster terminal.

What happened to a driver inspection report? They happen to be a legal DOT document. The repairs are suppose to be signed off on it.

Well yes they are, but doesn't mean the mechanics will actually fix anything and still sign it and try to give it back to you hence the rerun into service from the other drivers.

Wow man, I am sorry to hear that. That is just absurd. As a DM, which I am not and have never really been one, I would do what yours did, try to get you to another shop. Or another truck, or something.

I understand. :) I had a 2nd shift mechanic tear up a report once. Said it wasn't neccesary. After having a talk with his boss the next day, crap hit the fan.

A large company like Swift should have a shop workforce equal to the size of the fleet. No driver should sit over two days.

Amen to that brother. You would think Swift would see how much money they are losing when that truck is not rolling. But they seem to bypass this area.

For example got hit by a deer the other night and Onroad sent me to Volvo to get it repaired. Waited for 24 hours only to get a call from Volvo saying Swift wants me to take it to a terminal instead.

WTH why oh why must you do this because now I am out of a days pay waiting. And now I will probably have to wait for a few days at a terminal just to get a 2 hour job done.

Volvo would have had my truck ready the next morning and the total repair only taking 2 hours but nooooo Swift likes to see me wait for days at a terminal.

Does not make sense. get the truck fixed fast and get me back out on the road making me and you money..
