I'm assuming yous ay .26 starting cause this is a new driver. Forgive me, I didn't see if they said they were new or not.

My husband has 5+ years experience and, after 2 weeks out with a trainer at $500/week (refresher since he's been out of a truck for about 5 years), he'll be making .40/mile.

Let me rephrase my last post. They SAY he will start at .40/mile. However, they also "said" there was no slip seating and didn't mention he'd have to leave his truck at the terminal every 2 weeks, empty it out, and find his way home (81 miles away), then back into a different truck for the first 90 days.

He told me tonight that if they offer a quarter a mile, with his experience, he's gonna tell someone where to shove it. Bad thing is...we can't afford for him to say that, lol. We have $10 in pennies rolled up and $21 in cash til he gets his first check on the 26th!!! I've gotta get dog food tomorrow, probably toothpaste as well, and have less than a 1/2 tank of gas. We are so strapped it's not even funny.

Buy a small bag of dog food and brush your teeth with hydrogen peroxide. It feels and tastes funny, but your teeth will be white. And don't swallow it. Or use plain ol baking soda. Or just water. Toothpaste only makes it more pleasant to brush your teeth. For now, squeeze every penny til it screams.

Lol...we are squeezing every penny and crying every night. We miss the hell outta daddy. The main reason our son misses him is...well...this is the first dad he's ever had that gave a crap. He came to us when he was 7 and we adopted him last year. He's still getting over the abuse he suffered and having dad gone doesn't help him feel secure. Unfortunately it's a necessary evil right now. I feel like I'm not even married except when I talk to him over the phone and he's only been gone for 2 nights! I've done this before...him being out a week at a time...but never more than that and never with a child or in a state that I didn't have family in. I know, I know. I'm whining. I might have to deal with the cards I'm dealt but by God I don't have to like it! :p Maybe I'll complain less once things are settled and I get to talk to and see him in regular intervals. It'll be better when school starts and I can volunteer there and at church. I'll have something to do.

Oh, and a small bag of dog food is out of the question. We have 2 Labs and 1 English Bulldog. 90, 67, and 36 lbs each. I can find a big bag for under $15 though. That'll leave us with $16 for gas if we need it.

LOL, no...can't eat the dog. Had them too long. Definitely can't eat the 90 lb one...he's my big love bug. ;) We've got food...they are the ones that need more food. Normally not a problem but money got real short real quick.

There is excellent support for you in "The Ladies' Room" part of the forum. Some trucker wives in there who know exactly how you feel. Because they've been there. I highly recommend it if you haven't been there yet.

Since I'm the trucker and not the one staying home, I can only tell you how it looks from this end.

I wasn't trying to be a b****. Just tossing out ideas to help stretch that little bit you do have.

    Best wishes.

(Add) I have a 25-pound, 8-year-old Basenji who rides in the truck with me. I keep saying the only reason I keep him fed is to keep the meat fresh. But then someone always tells me, "Leave that dog alone!"

Baking soda with a vinegar rinse also makes a great shampoo.

just put a tablespoon of BS in 1/2 cups water for the shampoo, same for the vinegar to rinse.

    Injun Thanks this.
