Hi everyone. I have been guesting the forums for a few wks and have finally decided to join up. Is anyone else on hold for the millington academy? I was originally set to leave on 6/6 but had a setback and was forced to reschedule. My recruiter has been great through all this but I am going broke( since I quit my job for my original date) and I don't know how much longer I can hold out. Hate for this to be my first post and am looking for some light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks guys

Lol ok. I guesse no one else is waiting to be scheduled a start date. I'm just wondering how long it has taken most to be scheduled and wondering if maybe they are giving me the run around because I had to reschedule. My recruiter has told me that 3 slots have opened up for IL and she is trying to get me one but I don't quite understand the recruiting process and how the slots open and what determines who gets them. If anyone can shed some light on the recruiting process or has any info at all I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Thanks for the reply :biggrin_25514: At any time did your recruiter tell you that you were on hold and didn't have a date set yet? My original date came easily and was only a 2 wk wait but this time I don't even have a date set. I can handle waiting it's just the not knowing when I could have a date to go that worries me. It's been a month already and she said it could be another 3 wks but she's not sure. With 3 mouths at home to feed and my savings dwindling not even knowing a date to start has me very nervous.

I went to Millington in Feb and had no problem getting a date. Only thing I can think of is maybe they don't want too many from IL,IN and MI in the same week. The road training for those states is done at the Gary,IN terminal and they only have 2 instructors and two trucks available so having like 8 students in one week would not benefit anyone. I thought Tom and Chuck were great instructors and if you are ready for it they will take you early to test and you get extra time off. Just hang in there and be persistent, don't let the recruiter forget about you.

Also when you do go I don't care what they let you get away with, get used to doing the 45 without sticking your head out the window and without even so much as breaking the plane of the cones. The IL CDL test you have to only use your mirrors and if you go over the cone line even a little well you just hit the trailer next to you so you fail. The plus side of taking the IL CDL test is once you pay for the permit thats it, no testing fee or having to pay again to get your CDL unless you fail 3 times.

Last thing, I'm assuming you would be out of Gary. The DM's there have been great so far, all but one used to drive and the FM also used to drive. I have not had to beg for detention or local pay and they keep me moving. Of course I'm low maintenance, take what they send me if I can, and am chill with my driving so no overspeeds or hard braking and so far have always been ontime.

I was scheduled for a start date of 6/6 at Millington too and had to reschedule due to conflicts at home. I contacted my recruiter last week and told him I was ready to go, and he put me in the class starting 7/18. He did say I got the last "open seat". Maybe there will be someone drop out or reschedule and you can get a spot. Good luck to ya!!

Thank you guys for your replies. As far as slots go kris did tell me there were only 3 slots avail but not sure if she meant 3 for the entire month or 3 for the next avail class. She is in the process of trying to work something out to get me squeezed in. Thanks for the info on the 45 for il. They seem like real sticklers here in il. That makes perfect sense about the slots for il. With only 2 trucks you'd have to stick to 3 or 4 drivers tops. Thanks again guys and happy 4th :)
