How to use optimized idle in 05 columbia?
    Directions state-
    Idle engine
    Engage parking brake
    Put transmission in neutral
    Hi range (if equipped)
Move cruise control from off to on
Turn cab thermostat on (if equipped)

I did all the above and the truck just idle at a high rpm. Does anyone know how to use this thing, I have a small control box in the cab with 4 butons on it 2 arrow up and 2 arrow down.

When I follow the instructions the truck idle at high rpm and it will idle forever until you turn it off or it run out of fuel, is it suppose to do that or turn it self off when the cab is a the temperature you set it for?

it should shut down when it reachs the desired temp--i have never had one that wont shut off--its usually they wont start up because of a bad switch

i like opti idle--takes a bit to get used to --having the truck start up while you sleep--but a person gets used to it--and a bit finniky to use at timrs--but its better than idling all the time

I had one while working for all freight trucking , worked great, pretty much runs like your furnace at home, yes everything the same as you said , but the high idle, mine never did, on the bunk panel, you have you arrows like you said, these bring you temp up and down, you also have a rocker swicth back there to turn on or off the idle, mine did, not sure on your model,, but sound's like you doing everything right, but i think your's need's too go back too the shop, becuse it not working right, only time mine was on high idle ,was when i turn on the system and was extra hot out , i bump the cruise up, that's the way mine work, you have a owner manual in there somewere, read it, they will have a seprate book in there on this, :biggrin_2556: only thing on mine , when the truck sut off , it shook the whole truck , but after awhile i got used too it, along with my reefer, :biggrin_2554:

If you don't set the temp controls it will act as a battery charger system, it will run until the batteries have a full charge then shut down until they need to be charged again. That's how the one I used to have worked anyway.

Mine don't have any switch back there to turn it on or off, I'll get it fix soon because I'm spending too much on fuel idling all the time, I would save a little if it cut on and off
