But all rear end accidents? Today I was just getting on the interstate, when a pickup truck in the lane to my right about 20 feet in front of me jerked the wheel extremely hard to the left, got completely sideways in my lane, and barely regained control. I was not following too close, because I wasnt even in the same lane as him, but I nearly hit him because he couldnt control his vehicle.

It was not icy, snowy or anything. Just a little wet from rain. He must have had some very bad tires or something. I still dont know why he jerked the wheel so hard. I mean he really did go completely sideways, at a 90 degree angle. I looked and didnt see anything in the road to cause him to swerve.

The worst thing about being a truck driver is not only do you have to drive your vehicle, you have to drive for all the other idiots around you.

hey thats a real smart idea--let somebody make a mistake and learn from their mistake --but fire them and let another company benifit from it--face it at the big companys you are just anothr piece of equipment--replaceable and not really cared about

I don't agree, and never have, with rear end collisions being one of the "forbidden 5." Any driver who has spent any time at all in the seat knows how difficult it can be to keep a decent amount of following distance. Yes, tailgating is not something a professional driver should ever do, but sometimes we are not given a choice by the other traffic. Have you really never been in a situation where every time you back off, another vehicle cuts in front of you? Have you never had a vehicle cut you off, then slam the brakes for some reason? Have you never had a vehicle shoot straight across several lanes of traffic to make an exit at the very last second? I'm sure we all have.

In certain situation the driver should not be fired, but then you have the situation where the truck driver Is just plain retarded for following the other vehicle too close, we see it all the time, so I think it should depend on the situation leading up to the crash.

I salute ups and fedex drivers with no accidents because y'all have to really push to make those tight schedule they given y'all. When I see y'all comming I stay out the way because I know what the shedule is like, I run a lot of those loads I like them because you don't sit around for days on a 500 mile load etc. Its get it and go, hardly have enough time to stop for fuel.
