    I don't get it.

I can get to a shipper or receiver withing 10 minutes of the time I expect to be there, usually hours earlier than the preplan.

But for some dagged gum reason I have yet to be able to make home time on time. And it's usually the fault of the final shipper. Call my wife and say "I have my load home and I should be home by XXXX". Nope, haven't made it yet.

Get to shipper and drop and hook hasn't even started building yet.

This is the third time in a row out of Utah, and with three different shippers too so it's not just one.

It's like the Swift planners are telling the shippers "this is Dom's home run so just fill it whenever you feel like and don't worry about being late".

    It's a conspiracy I swear.

    Just had to vent.

Last week my DM gave me a sweet plan that would have given me not one, but two days in a row of taking my 10's at home. My wife was super happy.

That ice storm in Northern Oregon / Southern Washington decided to put the kibosh on that. Didn't get to even stop by the house for lunch cause the storm screwed up the schedule. Wife NOT happy.

Wasn't shipper's fault that time but Mother Nature was in on the conspiracy.

This last home time, I got there the day after I requested.
But then, I had been sitting idle for 4 days.

A call to my DM to straighten things out, and I was on a load the next morning.
I could have delivered it on the day I had requested ht, but the delivery was a set time the next day.
"Best I could do" he says - and, I believe him.

He also put me in for 5 days layover pay (without my asking), which was approved the next day. So at least this check will be decent.

    To the OP...

Sorry the world is conspiring against you.
Maybe it was something you did in your last life. :biggrin_25520:

Lol, welcome to the club I'm so use to this from the military it don't even bother me, I just tell my wife I will be home some time around the date I put in for. Never tell her you will be home on that day, wives get upset when you don't make it home on the day you promise. Whenever you make appointments always have an option to cancel.

I miss my flight to jamaica for my grand aunt funeral I was pissed off but that's how the job is.

Hey at least they get you a load to the house, I have to dead 150+ miles everytime I go home since september, they telling me they have nothing that will take me str8 home and I know that's a lie because homedepot ship to the area everyday. Those were the loads I run home when I was a company driver

Good point. Only time I haven't gotten a load home is when it was too late in the day and they had all gone out. Dispatch said just wait till morning.
