OK no one I have talked to knows or remembers... when do you see your first direct deposit. My tax return got snatched (my fault, student loans) and I was depending on it to eat as well as drive home from the academy, and live on during my mentorship. I need good information to plan this out.
    Thanks!

I'm not sure what you mean Round2. You get paid for whatever you've earned from Thursday-Wednesday on the following Tuesday.

For example, we will all get paid tomorrow (March 13) for the work we did March 1-7.

There is no delay in getting your first check. You get it the very first Tuesday after you were hired. And, in fact, you can request an advance of up to $105.00. This will be taken out of your next paycheck, plus and extra $5 fee. Given that ATMs charge about $3.5, you'll be able to pull out $100 to live off of, with a final cost to you of $110.

Yes, you did get hosed on that. I would not have accepted the load, as sitting for that long IS a valid reason for turning it down. Especially considering you didn't mention needing a 34 reset.

BTW, the most diplomatic way of turning down the load would be to turn it down with the comments something like this:

"LOAD DOESN'T PU FOR 2.5 MORE DAYS. WILL ACCEPT IF CAN GET ANOTHER LD PRIOR."

This way, you are communicating that you'd like to help out the planner, but you are not willing to get hosed for doing it. You shouldn't even have to do this as this load should never have been sent to you, but if something like this does happen, I believe this is the best approach at saving face with a dumb-a&& planner.

    Thanks for the complement.

I wouldn't normally do this, but I did work very hard on this article. Perhaps a moderator could find themselves in agreement with Mystic and sticky this? Pretty please? With cherries? :biggrin_255:

Since the week starts on Thursday, you didn't earn anything Wednesday or before that, you won't be due a paycheck. Coming the next Tuesday, you should receive a full paycheck. That's why I mentioned the advance because you're going to need it. Just remember that that $400 you earn is before taxes and advances. Take an advance that first week and your $400 paycheck goes down to like $200 after taxes. Tracking?

I may have to fast for a couple weeks! LOL I should have done this several months ago rather than pretending that I could find work in our little town. This economy has to change!

I had a 34 a couple days earlier, so no, I sure didn't need one.

Trouble was, turning down a load makes one ineligible for layover pay and freight is slow in the area. Kind of a catch-22.

Plus, it was a 1200+ mile load. I didn't want to turn it down and get stuck with a sh!+ load in return.

And this time change hosed me, as well.
The load was already very tight, but I lost another hour because AZ doesn't do DST.
The Load Assignment gave me 47.5 hours for a run of 1265 miles, but with the time change I am down to 46.5. (with ~30 miles to shipper and a live load)
So I either give up essential breaks while driving or I mac22 it to give myself a bit more time.

It's a Walmart load that drops, so the time window probably goes to midnight, even though my LA said 2030. So I'll likely mac22 it for 2200.

Thus why it's best to make sure that your withholding is such that you end up sending in a check for $10 or so on 4/15 every year :)
