took that load into houston tx terminal and had it tcalled. waited till morning where mentor got an mt and got it loaded somewhere and he drove to el paso tx where we fueled and i took a shower. i drove from there to a rest top in az. i still had 2 hrs left to drive and wanted a break and to use restroom. mentor decided he was going to drive from there to pheonix where we tcalled that ld. and p/u an mt container and he drove it to fontana where he dropped me off. i'm getting upgraded on weds. so now i'm sitting at home

was driving into houston the other nite and it got pretty foggy for a bit. suprise how fast these guys drive with so low of visibility. there were times where i dropped down to 35 mph due to not seeing past hood. suprise the mentor didn't wake up or get up.

That is one of my biggest gripes! I don't care how many years you have been driving, it is absolutely BS to be driving at full speed in fog. You do not out run your head lights or your field of vision ever! Thats why we have those gigantic pile ups. Glad you were smart and played it safe. I always have to laugh when some super trucker will start talking smack because I'm driving safe and he is doing 70 through pea soup fog and then you hear him go off on somebody else that he has nearly hit. Just amazing

went and got upgraded today in fontana terminal (my home terminal) and there's a 2-3 day waiting list for trucks. going back in to attend their e-log class. my dm wants me to see him after class to go over what videos i need to watch. already watched 6 videos after orientation. lady who drive test me had grabbed 3 others form orientation that was going on and one of the guys just got off mentors truck and couldn't back truck into the hole. he was really nervous during the driving part but did good but backing was pretty bad. not sure what happened to him after i left. i tried to tell him to just relax but he was pretty nervous.

did the e-log class today. my manager took me to the safety guy so he would do the class for me. safety thought i had a log violation until i said i wanted the 1-log class lol. so he showed me the video and would stop and let me ask some questions. glad i took the class. mentor didn't show me how to put the load info on e-log so i'm sure i would've got log violation at some point. I-15 sb was pretty nasty with the snow when i left my house. coming back this afternoon wasn't as bad but was still snowing. still waiting for a truck to become available

got a paper from my manager and on it has a driving mpg graph and say i must be above 7 mpg. is that apptainable or is it hard to get depending on weight? also says idling must be underr 20% all yr.. and less than 7% out of route all year.

Attainable, yes. As far as idling Swift has been know to work with you on that, in fact it is policy that in weather below 20, you must idle all night, and during this time of the year, if up in the NE or NW, you will be idling. Now as far as out of route, darn, some of the fuel solutions that they send and the routing will put you out of route.

but if you follow their routing...it shouldn't be considered out of route, will it?

You would think that but I have seen several loads that by following the route they send on the qualcomm and even using the navigation function on the elogs, shows over 100 miles further than the paid miles.
