if you talked to dm about the extra mileage do you think they would pay the extra miles since you followed their routing?

finally got asigned a truck after sitting over 4 days( today being the fifth) its an '09 volvo with aprrox. 450000 miles on it. looks like previous drivers played bumpers trucks cause both front corners arw pretty banged up. one side had a good size tear on it. everything seems to work 'specially the bunk heater. took me awhile to figure out how to turn it off and it was real toasty inside ;)

You should have at least 5 drive chains (1 for each tire and a spare) and at least 3 trl chains. I run SS and I keep 4 on the racks and 2 in the side box. Trailer chains I keep 2 on the rack and at least one in the side box. SS chains are easier to break than tlr chains so be gentle when pulling out and keep the speed under 35.

I tried that, fleet manager replied that was the contracted miles Swift signed with the customer and that I was obligated to honor that by the lease I signed. The paid miles for that run was 350, my GPS and the Swift routing both had it at 457 miles. Later when I had time, I google mapped it and it was indeed 350 miles using country bumpkin roads.

Make sure you document all the areas on the sheet they give you indicating any damage was already there.

I think you would need enough chains to chain up all 4 super single drives and 2 single chains for one tire on each side of the trailer for 'drag' chains.

I know most of the time the chain control, we just put one single chain on one outside drive tire and one chain on one tire each side of the trailer. When they want max or modified max we put one chain on all four outside duals that's why I think you need 4 super single drive chains and 2 trailer single chains.

The best places to get chains at Swift transportation is in terminals in regions where there is no chain requirement lol. I have picked up perfectly good chains off the ground in the Atlanta, Gary and Edwardsville terminals, usually in the spring or summer, these guys throw them away for some reason. At most terminals in the spring you will see stacks of chains looking like little mountains that are there for the taking.

You should probably get ahold of someone who can get you company money to buy the chains you need. I would recommend not allowing them to put an Advance on your comdata card for this because the money will come out of your next paycheck until you scan in the receipt which they like to 'lose'. I would try Onroad to see if they can get you a P O number at the local TA or whatever so that the purchase goes directly on Swift's account.

wow.. what an busy day today. got a load p/u from riverside this morning going to st. cloud,mn. delivering on the 21. went and p/u the load and drove over to weigh the load at fontana terminal since quallcom said its was going to be 37000 lbs and the b/l said 3000 lol. went and talk to my dm about getting more chains since i wasn't even legal to run up north. he called pheonix, salt lake, and mn and nonone had any. so he decide to have me t-call the load in mira loma and told me to hang out there. on they over he message me to call him asap, so i pulled over and called. he said that once i get rid of the load, they were going to give another truck that came available. its has little a little more miles but its in alot better shape than the other one. so i spent all afternoon moving my stuff oveer and going over ewverything on and in the truck making sure they work. ask dm to move my pta till tomorrow morning and went to a much needed food shopping. was getting expensive eating out and not many places close by here in mira loma yard. hopefully i can get a load tomorrow.
