Just asking how does one go by seeking a team member if a person doesn't know any truckers that might want one?

I am still in training won't be out for another month or so I think. I don't think the solo thing will be for me. I thought I would get a jump start on a search. I don't even know if Swift will help find me one or not so that's another question to ask.

    A little about me
I will tell you the truth I would like someone with experience but its not that important. I am a laid back guy soft spoken. Easy to get along with at least I think I am. I think I am going to need some getting used to though. I think everyone does. I am still trying to get in some backing experience because that's my weakest part of my driving ability, but I think overall my driving ability is ok. I have no clue about mechanical parts I know how to do a PTI and all that I just wouldn't know how to fix something if it was broke. I am learning a lot from my trainer though about certain things. I just don't want to be alone out there. Besides that I heard teams make really good money. I know solo's could do it as well if they run hard enough I just don't feel like I could do it on my own. Two heads are better then one. Teamwork is the best work.

I could careless about first seat I don't even know if swift has that type of thing. I can drive nights I don't care but would prefer to share the night driving a little bit.

I am out of Fontana, CA. I live in Bakersfield. so if your close that would be good as well.

If this isn't the right place to post this just delete it and send me a PM telling me where or whatever instruction you think will get me on the right track. I got to get me a team partner.

Hi Raydar.I really do think you could go solo but you're just not sure of yourself.Anyway Swift probably has a billboard in their drivers lounge with drivers looking for someone to team with. Why don't you post your ad there.

Hey Radar, how you doing so far? I teamed with Schneider out of Fontana for 4 years. I'll go back if things dont go well in Colorado. Trick there is to keep moving, pair up with anyone ASAP,hand shake on a 4month commitment, take care of your designated 11 hour shift however you want, and let the other person do whatever they want-however they want on their 11 hour shift. Just make sure you agree on wether you wanna run Mon-Fri or conserve hours to run Mon-Mon and dont worry about the idling.

You should let your driver manager know you want to team. If you want to make more money also let them know you would like to get on a dedicated account. I did that and ran team dedicated coast to coast every week for six months, making about 20% more than when I was solo. It's a good gig, getting a 34 restart every week.

IMHO every driver should drive solo for a while so it's all on you. Gain confidence. Then you bring more to the table in a team.

I agree, teaming can be aggravating at times, but if you've dealt with the BS of soloing, then a driver might be more tolerant and understanding of the co-drivers actions. Teaming is the way to go, with the right partner or if you could choose a different partner every 3 months with the ability to go back with the same partner on agreement; however, i only noticed a large and constant pool of drivers out of Fontana.
Either way, if eric 428 or anyone else wants to have the same maintenance and dispatch headaches, along with many sleepless nights and days and almost no time off in exchange for $60k or more a year for company drivers more for o/o... then come on down to Colorado and help us haul sand (unless you're used to southern heat/humidity then try Texas, or if you're used to cold/wet then North Dakota for $100k). That or join the oil compnies, but you'll have to go back to college, join a food delivery outfit (mcclane, unfi, frito lay) or become a tanker yanker (hazmat or pneumatic). Hope that helps someone.
