I'am finally done with all my documents now and is ready to hit the road. The only thing now I dont have is a passport. Iam starting next week Monday at Millington, TN at the academy. I dont know how the program works and not familiar with it. I already have my Cdl permit.

(1.) - On hometime where will the truck be parked? Some companies dont allow drivers to take their equipments home so I need to know this info

(2.) - How many weeks out over the road?

(3.) - Miles solo drivers average?

(4.) - When do drivers get paid?

(5.) - How much will I expect to make a week solo

(6.) - How fast are company trucks?

    (7.) - Passenger policy?

(8.) - What type of trucks does Swift currently have in their fleet and how old are they?

(9.) - How is the 3 week program over at Millington TN?

Truck can be parked at a truck stop or a empty lot if 1 is available near your home I have heard some terminals if u live with 100mioes they have to be park at term don't know I don't live near 1

otr at least 12 days but if u go home very 2weeks don't exspect to make much stay out at least 24 days to make money

I averaged 3000 miles but I'm a hard runner this depends on u I would figure on 2500 miles a week to see if u can handle it 1 day off for every 6 out 4 days off max can't keep them for later they just disappear if not used

payday is every Tuesday Andy tripsempty by midnight Wedsday on on the next week pay

Pay any where from $300 to $1400 a week depends on you how well u run and how much u wanna sit or get stuck baby sitting freight I average $1000 a week $600 Hometime weeks.

trucks are 62 but If u wanna lease 68

$30 a month anyone can come they say they do background check they don't oh and they have to be at least 12 years old

Volvos, freight liners, Kenworths 2008 and up exspect a older 1 to start maybe u may get lucky I was given a brand new truck after 8 months keep safety rating good and no preventabes help.

    no clue about millington sorry.

swift is a good starter company good luck to ya

Ha ha Scarface beet me to the punch (but my typing is neater) :)

    1. Truck will probably be parked at a Swift terminal on home time. While on the bronze developmental fleet you will have to unload and risk having truck taken away and given to another new driver for any home time over 34 hours.

    2. OTR times is up to you after 14 days out. Some stay out months I come home every 3 weeks for 3-4 days.

    3. 2500 miles seems to be what a lot of solo folks are getting in this slow season.

    4. Pay is on Tuesdays

    5. .25 cents per mile as a new hire. So what ever mileage you get x .25. 2500 miles = $625 before Uncle Sam gets his hands on it.

    6. Company trucks are governed at 62 mph

    7. Passengers over age 12 allowed at $1 per day for insurance

    8. Swift has Volvo's, International and Freightliner's. Oldest I have seen is a 2008

    9. I know nothing about Millington

You do not need a passport unless you are planning on running Canada, and if so, Swift has something that is set up about that . Since you are from TN, do not worry about that. We hardly go up there unless you are outta certain areas, and even then, they have drivers that go up and back all the time. There is a drop yard that is close to Nashville that I believe that you can leave your truck, and it is secured. Since there is no terminal in your area, that would be a good idea. I think that you can even park your car there. It is a large terminal that Swift shares with another company.

Scarface, need to correct you on one thing. when first starting out, need to scan and send in 25 trips, then can get on accelerated pay so that mt on Wednesday, get paid the next week. Until then, only get paid for what is completed and scanned in. Sorry.

I have a question. Is it true that Swift drivers have to send a QC message before backing up, or am I being trolled?

It's ok blsqueak not mad just letting you know what I read

swift is a great place for students they are a training company

school ????? But probably like any other they teach enough to get license nothing more or that's all my school taught

pay is different from 1 driver to another all depends I make good money my 1st yr at swift $43,000
If u wanna go home every 2 weeks your not gonna make much if u stay out 24 days like I do U can make money if u don't stop every 100miles and screw around I always run at least 4 to 6 hrs before break if I can unless I Need fuel we have some that would rather sit in terminals then complain I can't make no money

Walmart are good money making accounts to run if u can get on one I Help and they just seem to not even care if I join the fleet or not

yes we must GOAL they want the plate # I don't do that just goal I rarely get and and look unless Im not 100% sure

AP was not eliminated, only the wait time to get it.

If you have a missing BOL you will lose it until the trip is scanned in.
Happened to me a couple weeks ago.
It was a trip from a month ago, and I had scanned it with a couple other trips. Somehow it never got picked up and it was listed as missing.
I was taken off AP until it was re-scanned.
