I don't need to answer this for mystic...but if it is anything at all its because he puts money back or in an account that he can draw on in case of exactly that very reason....and only 620 a week probably that's what he needs to cover his total bills per week...the rest is saved for maintenance, rainy day...etc.....its called planning......
I take 4 mo a year off....its not great to always play catch up but I have my reasons....and I make it work....soon I will work the whole year and pocket the payment ive been making for my truck....yeehaw....
I'm taking the L/P plunge

Can one of the current L/P drivers or O/O tell me what you are doing for health insurance?

Frankly I was enjoying our spirited discussion. You have legitimate concerns, that anyone looking at a lease should take under consideration ... I hope that I was providing information on how to successfully manage those concerns.Last edited: May 20, 2013

what kind of mpg do the new trucks get?
The truck im driving right now is a 2007 volvo 780 and depending how I drive and where to along with weight I can get over 9mpg at times, from mc calla Al to El paso I averaged 9.6mpg, another run I hit wind and got a little over 7.
I am not planning on leasing through swift myself, im being offered an opportunity by my mentor which I might take, he said hes been waiting for a good driver to work for him, his truck is paid off in 4 months and he wants to get a new truck, he said finish the training and then go solo for a couple months so I get a good feel of things and then keep in touch, he told me today he has been calculating and said he will start me at $0.32-$0.35cpm and offer me an aggressive scale so the more miles I get over 2200 per week the more he will pay me cpm and next year he is planning on moving over to landstar since he knows some people making a ton of money there and if things work out and I prove to be good for him he wants to take me over with him. He said if things work out and I agree to stick with him for at least a year he is willing to help me with a down to buy my own used truck.
Has anyone here worked for an o/o? if so whats your experience with it, I know I will still be under swift policy but the idea of more freedom, choice of loads and more pay than swift will give me in the time frame has me a little eager and excited especially since it will help me to my goal of having my own truck quicker.
He has been teaching me where and how to save and make more money, when he is driving im shopping around for fuel prices and vise versa, couple nights ago we found a loves in Biloxi, ms for $3.48 a gallon. Just fuel shopping can make a ton more money, just up the road the fuel was $3.98.The Challenger and Bigdubber Thank this.
