Well...just like the title says! I have been looking into this for a long while. It's been the most unemotional decision of my life, it seems. Reading some of your guys' posts had shed a bit of light here and there. After pushing the pencil to the pad for a month, I decided it was time to call a recruiter to solidify the facts. Things were sounding like I had researched, so we got me approved and located the truck I want in Memphis.

I have a load to pick up tomorrow here around Columbus, Ohio which will Tcall in Memphis. I'll be moved into my new house and rolling Monday afternoon! I picked out a 2014 Cascadia "Evolution series" that has an eaton 9. I was told twice that converting to a 13-speed was fast and cheap to do.....I don't know if that is any bit true, but my desire is to do this conversion down the line. I believe it would net a better mpg along with my driving style.

I've ran a couple food businesses before. I'm excited to go into business this time and not have to deal with lazy teenagers every day. Mainly, I have short and long term goals that will require future capital. After a year with Swift, I find myself 90% comfortable or better (some days) with their setup, but am capped now at .32 cpm and 1 penny bumps every year after. I'm at the point where I need to grow financially to meet my goals, and being company wasn't going to get me there on a good timeline. The idea of mentoring was entertaining for a bit, but just can't fathom if I'd ever sleep. I never did like teaming anyway.

This is one way I can carry on and have a more productive, bigger hand in my future. I am excited as the process closes in. There will be updates to come, fellas.

33 cpm as a company driver is more than you will net as a L/P operator..

Except that your lease contract will have a paragraph that say you cannot convert your 9-speed to a 13-speed.

you probably won't be able to modify ANYTHING at all.

better to find a truck with a 13 already in it.

Yeah....it wasn't a selling point at all, but a personal preference that doesn't happen to work out.

I THINK THAT in order to get your personal preference. you need to order a truck spec to your wishes.

i think the 9 speed is a standard spec as that's probably what all the megas order. you'll have to make a special order.

Yes, sir....and a 9 speed she'll be. Typical equipment for Swift anyhow. I've been happy with this 10 speed in my Vulva.
