Yea like I said technically they are 9 speeds swift throws the words 8 speed around

also didnt swift start buying all convertable 9 speeds for resell valve of the trucks. On their used equipment site they all show they are convertable 9 speeds transmission codes

the 13 speeds are nice, the mentor I had has a 780 volvo with the 13 speed, its 9 speed but has the extra lever to convert it, was nice using just the switch on hills

yes and no, there are mentors who are company drivers too, some owner ops have certain preferences in the gears and stuff. Your norm will probably be 9 or 10 speed, possibly a 13 depending on the mentor.
Dont stress so much on the amount of gears, its not hard to learn a new transmission. I was able to go from the 9 and 13 easily. Never driven the 18 but im curious and want to try it.

there are a lot of people on this board who will help and answer questions, I dont know nearly everything and im sure I wont ever know everything. I learn by trial and error sometimes, mess up and you better believe you will learn something from it lol.

My trainer was a company driver. he is now an O/OP. I believe he had a Volvo with a 9-speed tranny.
