Knowing someone who applied to Swift in Richmond, the Following Too Close ticket in the past 3 years was an automatic no on the application for him. Unless things have changed, you would have to wait at least until that is 3 years old, and even then, the 16+ ticket may disqualify you.

Submit an online application and see what happens.
If you can go to a private or community college CDL school, there are companies that will hire you.

Thanks for the input now i have a better idea of what's needed, the following to close will be 3 years old in two months and the 16 over will be 3 next may...but I plan on putting in a application in December anyways and see what happens.

In my state traffic violations fall off your record after 5 years. You need to check with your state and see how long it takes for them to fall off your record, the one from 1996 should be off your record by now. Jesus 7 years - some murders don't even get 7 years for killing somebody.

the excessive speed and following too close Swift will not like at all, they want a 8 second following distance at all times, does this always happen out there? lol no
People taking my following distance constantly, cut me off and pull right in front where I have .2 following etc.

You got that right. Even if the company did decide to hire him, he won't make it past their insurance. Insurance is always the bottom line deal breaker these days.

Thank you for your service and no pun intended but good luck with that. I highly doubt they will even talk to you with that record.

The best thing that I can think of, call them, ask them, and then let them tell you what they will need. Phone call is free and who better to really tell you. I think that the one in Ohio, that is going to hurt big time. I know that the app says 3 years, but many years ago I friend of mine was hired, and then later fired. They found something that happened to him 4 years prior to his app.

I just put a job app in they wanted 10 years DMV record. I only have a speeding back in 3/2007 for 13 over, 78mph in a 65. That was before I got my CDL.
