If so I do an average of 1700 miles a week at this time. Daily routine is you get called for your load ethire between 6-8am or 2-6 pm your told where it is going when its gate time is and the miles. At lakeland you would be at the winterhaven dc which is never hiring. What I mean by calling is litteraly that you set your pta and they call you ethire some time before that during the hours I mentioned or much later. Winter haven dc uses a pay scale all its own so I can't comment on that. Arcadia the pay cap as company is .38c a mile and 10 $ a stop after the first one you can expect to make between 600-700 a week gross during non peak weeks and more during peak. A good trainer here can make upwards of 2000 $ a week gross if lucky but you work your butt off. Another note is down here you are bound by flordia rules not dot. As such yiu get 16 hours on duty 12 drive and 80 for 8 days. We do not at this time have to follow the 30 min break as flordia dose not req it. Also this account is a home nightly account (or daily)

 

How would being a mentor work on a home daily account? Would the student have to be from around that area, stay in the truck or a hotel? Kind of curious about this account.

 

Most home daily drivers are in daycabs so the student couldn't stay on the truck.

It would be unfair to the student to be on a truck working this way. Student will not get the benefit of driving in different terrains and climates. Trip planning is not as important either. Think of all the things that an OTR driver has to deal with that a shuttle or local driver doesn't have to worry about, for instance use of the qualcom, or dealing with plus one dispatching.

 

Live in the same area ... Because I had less than a year experience when I came to Swift, I had to do 2 weeks with a trainer. We ran a 800 mile round trip, home at night and 34 hour reset on Saturday.

 

I'm currently working as otr driver at Swift transportation. 6 months experience. Interested in the Arcadia, Florida dedicated. Been wanting to move to Florida for some time. What is the current pay? Average weekly pay one can expect? Is it a home daily account? God time off? Thanks
