Have admit that the turkey here tonight was not that bad. Even the stuffing was good and it was all that you can eat. Not a buffet but I was only good for one plate since it was loaded with at least 4 slices.

    At the TA in Denver.

Other than Happy Thanksgiving, I've only got two words to say...

    GO SEAHAWKS!

I just got a pplan picking up (120 miles away) at 2200 after I deliver this live unload at 1115.
    Gotta love Plus1.

I called the night dispatch, and what did I get?
Well, not a non-helpful flunky telling me that they could not give me windows.

It seemed to be a rather young girl, and she gave me the exact pick up and delivery windows.
I had until 12/1 at midnight to both pick up and deliver.
With a 'Happy Thanksgiving and be safe' at the end.

So I adjusted the times to pick up the morning of the 29th and deliver that evening.

I really LOVE it when someone is actually honest with me, instead of going the political/company route.

    Lepton1 and HousTank Thank this.

Petro usually puts on a good buffet. Stuffing, BTW, is the one item most likely to give you food poisoning on the buffet...

That's because they don't know, or care, how to do it right.

Just tonight I watched a server spoon stuffing that was way over cooked into stuffing that seemed under cooked.

Stuffing means STUFFED IN TO. As in, it cooks INSIDE the bird.
But what came out was in a tray, and clearly well overdone. And this person simply spooned and folded it in to the rest of the pan.

Everything else seemed to be pretty good, though. I ate the turkey, potatoes, gravy, carrots and pumpkin pie.

In a restaurant setting, very little (if any) stuffing/filling/dressing is cooked inside the bird. The problem is that it comes out undercooked unless you overcook the bird. It's always done in a pan.

What you described, though, is unfortunately rampant in the buffet industry; fresh food is mixed in with the old food (or worse, dumped on top), which gives the bacteria more time to multiply. Steam tables are generally not hot enough to keep food above the critical temperature. If they did, the food would dry out very quickly.

Taking my 10 at Cabelas in Ft Worth off I-35W a couple minutes from my drop later today. If you have a p/u or unload, and want to set your 10 prior to or are short of hours after loading/unloading, in the Alliance Gateway area of Ft Worth/Roanoke this is the place to stay. Has parking for 80-90 trucks and easy to get in and out of and fairly quiet. There's a nasty Peelot across the road that always seems to be slam full 24/7 since there's no other TS near here. I don't think most OTR drivers know there's parking here because the Cabela building blocks the view. Whenever I stay here there's usually a couple of Stevens trucks or a few locals but there's always lots of room here. Cabelas also has a grill and bathrooms inside. They must've started their Black Friday sale at 12am...it's 4am now and the car parking is packed.

Sent a HiVal/JIT ppln to Memphis for a sometime Sunday unload. Picks up right after I finish the one I have. I'm not thrilled at having to go into the Memphis terminal but my truck needs a B-Serv and I need the winter SIMS session. Keep getting nastygrams to do it by 12/01/14. Good time to load up on oil and washer fluid too. I'm hoping the shop doesn't take too long to change the oil and kick the tires.

Memphis and Columbus. Are the only 2 terminals that have a dedicated b'service well also salt lake... In Memphis if the find no other dot faults that have to be fixed once they start you will be out in about 45min to hour. That's the only shop that I try to take it to for b' service..

At home hopefully everyone had a good thanksgiving.

Well, got the shaft again today before doing my drop in Roanoke. Cust changed p/u and delivery on my load to Memphis. I've lost two good loads in the past 3 days now. Plus after it was removed I was put on Maint hold for B-Serv...so now I HAVE to go to Lancaster. To make matters worse I'll have to stay till Tuesday morning to take that ###### SIMS session.

I'll get a 34 I don't need for a class I don't get paid for. I'll be lucky to see 800 miles this week. Not really happy

We all have weeks like that, but they don't happen very often. Thankfully.

I'm on I-55 in MO an hour and a half from my pickup tomorrow at P&G.
I'll be hopping on it a couple hours earlier than planned because of my next pplan.
It is a load getting me to WI at 0800 on 12/1, which is my home time date to be in MN. I want to get to the pickup early enough to find decent parking tomorrow night.
I'm hoping that the load after that will get me to Inver Grove, or close enough.

    HousTank Thanks this.
