This is why you should go owner op, pick fuel locations when and where it is best for you. I just did a 2500 mile run, put in 70 gallons in 6 different states on the way and still had 100 gallons on board ready for my next load. J Loves TA shower cards always maxed out on showers so no matter where I stop there is a free shower. Then walk the dog for an hour and one hour of trip planning for the cheap fuel and lowest elevation route stuff like that and another hour polishing up the chrome then to bedtime.

I like starting my day around midnight. Makes for some wide open driving when there aren't many people on the road, and you get the "pick of the litter" when you shut down for the day.

I started at midnight in Gallup and made it to Jurupa Valley before noon. Found a great place to park, got the caked on mud washed off the truck and paid a nice tip to the excellent crew, they even washed the engine compartment. Truck looks good again.

Going to kick back and watch a movie. Tomorrow late morning I have a live unload in City of Industry, so no rush. Think I'll sleep for a while, then go shower and laundry in the early a.m. when nobody's using them, then sleep some more before I get underway.

I calculated that for the last eight days, running on recaps and with plenty of "more than 10" breaks, I ran 3500 miles. Feels good to be running and I feel for those of you out there that have been storm bound. I've been lucky to encounter only a few miles of slick conditions (although I was shut down for a day in Dallas early last week with the ice storm and had to run through that blizzard in Pueblo and Denver).

My application with my brother's company has been taking time to process, but it looks like it's coming together. He's also finally getting the full overhaul of the engine done on his truck, so hopefully it won't be long before I'm pulling pipe into the oil rigs.

After that first trip up to the NE ... I looped in and out of the NE one other time and only because it was stack of lucrative Command loads. Other than catching a few inches of overnight snow on a up and back into KY, I've not been north of the 40 this year and intend to stay that way ... been pulling a steady 3K a week since my down time for the turbo/cam in Phoenix ...

In FL, heading to SoCal ...

Las Vegas...finally! After getting unloaded in town, I dropped my empty trailer at the yard and hustled to a Veterinary clinic to have my two doggies updated on a couple shots. Had been up since 1am, so when they put me and the dogs in a room and forgot about us for 1.5 hours...well, I was not impressed, so they gave me a $25 off coupon. 48 hours and I can drop them off at the pet hotel. Kinda feels like another vacation, though I took more time off last year than a typical working class German would!
This has been fun to read where everyone is at and doing.

Do you have to double space to start new paragraphs or something? This is driving me nuts!

    Salt Lake terminal.
    What fun.

But I lucked out coming in. There were no other trucks in line. I got in and out in a jiffy.
T-called the load and then put the truck in the shop.

It was already a bad week for miles, but it was made worse because I had to get an advance for fuel on a Wednesday.
It'll come out of that bad paycheck, which is the one that was supposed to be for home time with the girls.

I had to find room here in Salt Lake as well. There were no real parking spaces left for my trailer.
Yard dog's to the rescue if a driver has to pull out the trailer behind me.
It's facing the other way, but it is the inside trailer with two more to the outside. There is no room to pull up and out because of the other trailers just ahead of it.
    It's stacked 3 deep behind row 1.
There is a lot more room here at SLC, but it seems it is just as crowded as Denver in some ways.

If Swift wants to continue to grow they really need more terminals. Perhaps 2 in a city like SLC or Denver.
They should have kept the original terminal here to provide more space. And they sure as heck need more space in Denver.

It's a frigid 3AM here at the northern end if I-77 in West Virginia. We're at the Welcome center and the state has yet to send a plow through here. Not hard to believe since the interstate is still a frozen mess. We crossed the Ohio river around 1300 yesterday and immediately shut it down. There was about two inches of ice bound packed snow to run on. We're hoping that West Virginia can find the salt they forgot to treat the roads with by sometime tomorrow but from what I hear crossing WV is going to take the better part of the day tomorrow. We'll see. Be safe everyone and stay warm. At least here they really got the storm name right --> THOR <--
