You can take 30 days off and come back like it was 2 days. I know because I did it as a company driver.

I believe there is a 30 day leave and a (up to) 120 day leave.

Doc, I'll ask my DL tomorrow morning. I need to bug him about something anyway.

There is one thing that you will need to find out if you have ins through the company. Will you lose them and have to start again if you are gone for more than 30 days. Some companies also consider over 30 days leaving and when you come back a re-hire.

You might have to arrange to pay the insurance in the meantime to keep it up to date.

Personally, I've been considering dropping it.
The premium went up from $160 per month to $200 this year, and the deductible went to $6,000 from $4,000. (Obamacare?)
That is only for me, with pretty basic coverage.

Really doesn't seem worth it when I seldom need a doctor for anything.

Doc, you can take 30 days without too much difficulty but if you want more you can get with human resources in Phoenix to work out the details. What it comes down to is the company wants to retain on time and safe drivers even though they want you to jump hurdles to do it.

    Okay that's good to know.

I gotta start tightening up my game anyway so they want me back. I think they like my work but its not like we get performance evaluations. I think sometimes I'm a PIA especially when I get cranky or have to go to the metro NYC/NJ area. I need to make sure that they will feel like they are losing a spectacular asset if I leave and I'm sure I'm not at that level. I'll talk to HR about it soon just to see where they are coming from.
