When I take home time in Phoenix it's common to get a preplan for AFTER my hometime before I park the truck. I actually prefer this to coming back to the truck not knowing if I'll get out that day or not. Only problem I seem to have is missing a text telling me that they sent me a preplan while I'm at home. The Phoenix planners rarely leave a preplan on any truck for more than 2 hours.

I tell them eta and then head up night before. I told dispatcher day 1 call me if you need anything. He said they respect hometime and won't call. But they won't qc me before my return date because I park at terminal and drive home. Usually though they preplan me with a load before I go home. I pick it up park for hometime then deliver, or a few times pickup has been right after hometime but they always tell me in advance.

ask your dl for a preplan b4 you go on hometime. that way, you dont have to worry or sit at terminal once you are back. i make sure pta for hometime is on the qc and i call dl to confirm. if i dont get a preplan sent before i go home. my phone will beep with a preplan. i'll look at it to see if p/u is on day of pta. if so, i'll call dl to go over it and have him accept it for me if everything looks ok. if i dont like the preplan, i just ignore the text. i'm on hometime lol

I usually take 4 days off for hometime. My DM sets my PTA before I head to the house from the terminal. Generally within 24 hrs I get a 1000+ mile load for when I come back. I just call my dispatcher for the details and they accept it for me. My Girl DM likes to make sure I have a good load out to start my week off right.

I usually go go to the terminal a couple hours before my PTA to update logs, dump useless mssgs and pick up an mty trailer from our secret stash saved for those coming off hometime so we don't have to chase all over the city looking for one. It all works well enough.

This where the DM is key. My DM will plan me before I go home on a load that takes me home. He will ask me when I want to go back out, and with in 30 min ill have a plan on that date my home time ends. Most the time I take 4 to 5 days off.

I don't get planned in advance. But then, I never take my home time near my home terminal. I seldom have to wait for a plan, though.
