any meat load i ever picked up had an early time and a drop dead time for pick up
drop dead time has enough time for on time delivery
and get some food in the truck
i have fed plenty of drivers stuck on 80 in the winter on a closed road
no plan survives first contact

 

You should always keep some water and snacks on board I can't tell you how many times I was told my Cargill load was a drop an hook to find it was live and waiting 10 hours and if your running late to let your dm know so they can reschedule otherwise you'll find yourself waiting another 24 hours.

 

Not enough room? Pleeeease. I go shopping at Wal Mart and have 4-5 cases of water with me, I go through 1.5 cases a week it seems. I have canned foods, Soup, Spaghettios and Hormel instant meals for $2.19 in the pasta aisle. I have tuna, mustard and sandwich bread. I have all the food I need for breakfast, typically protein bars, granola bars and fruit(Apples, bananas, oranges). I typically try to grab a salad, or eat Subway once a day. The rest, I eat off my truck. Some times, if its a crappy place I stop I eat off the truck. I don't order 'combo' meals. Subway has specials every month on on 6" and 12" sandwiches. $3.00 and $5.00 if I recall correctly. You need to stop making excuses and fill one of your cupboards with food.

I don't have a fridge in here and I do just fine.

 

freightliner man nailed it. My cabinets are nowhere near the size yours are and I always have food. I could sit for a week and need nothing. You need to be prepared for the winter and really all the time. Then you do not have this problem. Leave some clothes at home or get rid of whatever is taking up your space and make room for necessities. It is fine to have comforts in the truck but take care of your needs first. Sitting around on meat loads is why I left the reefer game and came to Swift for flatbed.
