The video captured by these systems is owned by the company. No lawyer is going to allow any of that video to be released to the public if they can help it. In the cases where you have seen video, it was because that video became evidence in a trial and evidence is usually made available to the public at the conclusion of the trial. In cases where the driver is proven innocent by the video, there generally will be no trial because the prosecutor looks at the video, sees the driver is innocent that is where the process ends. No trial equals no trial evidence equals no video released to the public.
IOW video proving driver innocence exists but in general the only way you'll see posted in public is if someone wants to risk getting sued. Don't think that because it isn't on youtube means it doesn't exist.
Yep. Its called acceptable risk. Taking the risk of losing ten or twenty percent of the good drivers you want to keep is seen as an acceptable risk if it means you also get rid of eighty or ninety percent of the bad drivers you want gone. This is how businesses operate. You can stomp your foot and complain about it all you want but I doubt you or I will ever change it.
Used to be, but they moved me into the office so most of my driving days are behind me at this point.
Camera's are coming to a truck near you or Yours.

Not a big deal. It overwrites all the video except when alarm is triggered. They are not going to send 180 hours of video data through the air of your bad singing or picking your nose that is just way to much data. They would have to hire one person per truck just to watch it. Not a big deal just think of the data we use on our smart phones. Can you imagine if you looked at video 14 hours a day. Just don't pick you nose and slam on the brakes at the same time.Last edited: Oct 18, 2014

No one is disputing that value of a forward facing camera.

Love these stories. Catching people lying through their teeth is very satisfying. I won't drive without a camera rolling - just to many shady characters out there.
That said, I have not heard one of these stories where the driver facing camera would have done anything for the driver. Even the manufacturer of these systems markets them as a way to catch employees doing something wrong. I posted that link at one point on another thread like this - to lazy to go back and find it. -
1. Don't do anything wrong and nothing to hide
2. Put a towel over the cam when you invite the lot lizard in your truck. The wife will never find out -
I am not the type to do anything "wrong". I am just an intensely private person, and the idea that someone can be staring at me at their discretion is unacceptable to me. It's the mere idea they can is not something I am willing to tolerate.
Facebook, twitter, and other SM have taken over, and people think nothing of having everything out there. I love technology, but I am not on Facebook, Twitter, Classmates.com, or any other site. On personal assets, property, and the corporations I own, I have layers between me and what is available online to the public. You can't find me, period. I know I'm weird, but I will fight the - "hang it all out there" - attitude as long as I can.
And for the record, I'm single and can invite a lizard if I please, but can't imagine why I would. Lot lizards, like strip clubs, are for unhappy married guys. Single guys don't need to sneak around with a "lady" who cleans up in mud puddles, lol.Chewey Thanks this. -
As for lizards.. that was harsh.. sorry. I'm sure there nastybergy Thanks this. -
The driver facing cam, haha I wonder if it will get the same response that the "surveillance camera man" on YouTube gets from people he walks up to and just records.
