To legally record audio in a one party state, the person doing the recording must be a part of the conversation if the other party has not given consent, not someone illegally recording the audio remotely. For example, if I wanted to record what my boss was saying, I could have a microphone attached to my shirt and record without my boss' consent. I could not place a microphone on his desk and listen remotely and not violate the law.

That's the problem with all of this.

It seems the driver is at fault - always.

Remember you are a student. All of this is new to you sir. So i'm sure it makes no difference to you when you do not know any better i am not trying to be disrespectful but i do not feel you can grasp the situation at hand.

I'll bet you ten bucks the truck I'm leasing will never have a company provided camera while I'm leasing it. They can take the truck and shove it before it happens. But on a second note it would be fun to give the cameras a nightly show... lol

It would not be legal to record such conversation even if I was the owner of the company and did the same to an employee with consent. I described some of this in the response to your PM. Depending on the jurisdiction, the degree it may violate the law would vary.

    Switches,
Being "new" doesnt matter...as I clearly pointed out you are recorded everywhere...so I assume you quit driving when data logs started...no you didnt..you adjusted...also for you lease and o/o guys if your insurance says you put them in or pay 3x as much...you will have them.

How ya doin " semi " retired ? I hear ya ! I think we have got to try a different approach. we need to go to where the trucking schools are and pass out flyers to these students, or something, telling them about web sights like this one and others so they can be more informed. They are probably not yet aware of these web sights yet because they are just getting into the business. If we can somehow make them aware and educate them on what questions to ask before signing up with accompany then maybe they will try to be a little more selective before they sign up to the corrupt companies. Maybe if the experienced drivers provide them with a list of more thorough and technical questions to ask recruiters while they are " interviewing " recruiters about certain positions, maybe it will give new drivers a lot more insight as to what to watch out for and make them think more before unkhnowingly contributing to these dirty companies. They need to be more well informed. I guarantee you that these truck driving schools are not informing them of what to watch out for. The schools don't care as long as they can team up with the trucking companies to make their money. Just keep 'em rolling in and out of the door. If the trucking companies do not have a high turn over rate then the driver schools have no students paying all that money. I know what you mean about the newbies praising all these companies, the newbies are so concerned about paying for their school they are just happy to get a job, not knowing what's coming and that it won't be long before they quit, or get fired for some B.S, and have their whole career ruined because a corrupt company wants to chew 'em up and spit 'em out. I sure would like to hear what they have to say and how much praise they have for these companies after they have worked for them for a while and realize they are on a fast track to nowhere with these companies.

We are going to have to agree to disagree sir. Yes you are recorded in alot of places if not every where but inside that cab is many drivers homes. If your not willing to put a camera on your own bed you should be with me on this.If you are that is your choice.

I know this is a hot topic...being new has zero to do with this...and you all know it. In fact our Student Truck has Smart Drive...no big deal. I know it seems like we just want a job...not true, thats why I picked a great company, we get to drive any route, to our stop, heck if you are within say 70 miles of home stop in, if it works...no issues no questions...I assure you the owners of these companies just want a good days work, and maybe pay will go up if it gets safer out there...
