The mega carriers did not get to be mega carriers by being stupid and crappy to its drivers. If pay at one of them is far superior to another drivers will go to the better pay all other things being close to equal. That makes the other carriers bump up their wages. -
almost 20 years ago,
.28 a mile to start, 1 year experience was .37 a mile,
at some outfits.............

funny how the op asked a simple question and thread turns into a bashing session. and everyone wonders why drivers will never stick together. you can never put money as the only option cause, for me, you'll always want more than you get. as long as you're happy and can get ahead, then thats what matters the most. btw...thanx for your service, good luck on whatever course you choose
kc2000315, Moosetek13 and Mrgreen09 Thank this. -
Thanks dptrucker

That being said, 26CPM is common for brand new drivers regardless of starter company but you get out of that bracket very soon. You get a few raises your first year. I started at the 26 CPM and was 34 CPM in my second year.
I then took the experience to move elsewhere to a different company that offered me 41 CPM, but the work hasn't been as constant as I would have liked. -
Thats the main thing I dont mind making less cents per mile as long as im getting the miles .41 cent per mile dont matter if the miles are not there. Thats the mean thinking im look at the best company to start with that can give me the most miles per week I dont mind being out 4-6 weeks at a time. being in the Army im never home now at least this way im not 5000 miles away from home I can talk to them when I want to and im sure i will be coming by the house some also.

T_TRUCKER, I'm curious how much money per year a driver would have to make to qualify for not being retarded in your book?
kc2000315 Thanks this. -
I never said I would stay there forever I just dont want to go back to school that is a waste of money. get some recent driving then move on to a better paying job
-
T_trucker since swift is so bad tell me another company that will hire me with no recent experience without a refresher course.
