Why is it that we have to hold our DM's hands and constantly remind them to pay us what we're owed? It's not like we as drivers need constant reminding of where to take our loads, and when to have it there by, because we've basically figured out if we don't get it done, we don't get paid. Now I've got to try to see if payroll will include my breakdown pay on this check despite my DM not putting it in yesterday for processing. Maybe if it doesn't get done, he should have his pay withheld, and try to live off 100$ for the week at truck stop prices.

Our company - I email the pay administrator directly with breakdown hours or freight delay hours and a trip number. If she has a problem she either seeks authorisation or contacts me.

Your company doesn't do it that way? Seems logical to me.

Running after your DM and then checking up on his competence sounds tiring.

Fire your dm! Your DM is lazy all they have to do is send email to payroll for break down pay it take them couple minutes max to do it. Just call payroll and ask them if they have received it from your dm.

I am a company driver and I have fired 3 useless dm's only reason why I have not left earlier is my dm is a good guy and does what he says, that's all ask for in a dm do what you say and be up front and honestly with me

My DM doesn't need reminding. She's well aware how long my truck is in shop status the couple times I was down long enough. I always got the notice from payroll that the pay request was submitted before having to ask my DM. Overall, she's a keeper.

Yours needs to get his act together.

Dms are swamped if they don't do it right away, they forget. Send a message via qcomm and stay on them. If you have ever seen your dm at the desk you can see how tough it is. They have one phone always and are on the computer messaging a different driver at the same time on top of doing the actual work for the messages and phone calls.

Maybe some things slip past when your DM has 50+ drivers to keep track of, and try to keep happy.
You only have to keep track of one - yourself.

Go ahead and 'fire' your DM. They would probably be glad to be rid of one.

I find it amazing that so many people have so little understanding, or compassion, for the people they work with.
One little thing is a little bit slow and they go all to pieces over it.
"All it takes is an e-mail that takes a couple minutes..." Well, that DM may have several drivers waiting on hold and several other QC messages to respond to - things that may be even MORE important, strange as that may seem.

My next check will be a few hundred short.
Will I rage about it? No.
I'll simply speak to the someone in charge, calmly and respectfully, and it will get fixed.
It may not be on this next pay check, but I'll get it.

Go in some day and just sit with your DM.
And just see what they deal with minute by minute for their entire shift.

    OceanDan and Lepton1 Thank this.
