just as a hint  I keep (2) 2 gig sd cards on the dash

if the need happens I could change both cards from the 32 gig (8hr) to the 2 gig (30 min) in less than 30 sec. that way by the time anyone asked about them they would have looped..... :dontknow: just saying

I have a 4Sight dashcam which is similar to the RoadDawg which is a poor quality knock off. The video segments can be set to different lengths and a segment can be locked to prevent it being overwritten. It will handle a 32gb SD card but it will balk at overwriting and stop recording at times so I use a 16gb high definition card. Like every other inexpensive dashcam I've seen reviewed it sucks at night recording except for close in and you cannot make out license plates. It is a wide angle lens so what's a few hundred feet away records like its a few hundred yards away. You can find these at some TAs and they cost about $100. The 16gb HD SD card costs about $30. My truck doesn't roll without the dashcam on.

This clip was from last February on US-287 sb through Wichita Falls, TX. It was clear and dry and 26* but a small freezing rain squall had gone through icing all of the elevated roadways. If I had hit the pickup I would have had a hard time talking my way past a termination accident.

Watch the red Ford Ranger pickup coming up the ramp from the right. I was at about 20mph in 6th gear intentionally lugging to avoid spinning drives and as soon as I touched the brakes the truck was sliding. Anti-lock brakes are awesome!

Me too. I had a swoop and squat situation in Las Vegas last year when the insurance scammers were active. I've since turned off the sound because the video clearly recorded the sound of me accelerating and yelling, "Wanna play, mfer?". Fortunately he chickened out and pulled away.

Didn't realize that. I'll work on it in a few hours after I deliver this load.

Changed it to public. Is it working?

BTW, how do I insert a video into a post other than a link?

There are a few ways. Watch your video and copy the link from the top in your browser. Then come here and click on the icon that looks like a drum in a marching band that says "Insert Video" then paste the link there.

So I just bought a dash cam.
    The new Cobra CDR 900.
It's a bit pricey at $250 but it can record at 1296P or 1080P, has a 160 degree viewing angle, and can use a 64GB memory card.
It has Wi-Fi, and also a GPS port. I'll have to see if I can connect it to my RM520.

With the higher definition and wider angle it should be able to capture both left and right fender mirrors pretty clearly.
With a 64GB card it should record nearly a full driving day at 1296P before looping.
It loops in 3 minute segments.

    HousTank Thanks this.

And I've been looking at those 64GB things.
I figure it will cost around $70-$100 or more to get one that 'might' be able to handle 1296P video.
Most (all) are only rated for 1080P. Class 10. I guess they need a new class to really deal with ultra HD.

But, since I'm 'in the money' right now, I'll opt for the best that I can find.

class 4 and class 6 are better then class 10s. They cost more but data transfer rates are higher on the 4s and 6s.
