Good deal you were driving safely and not like so many idiots out there. Whoever was in that car should have you on their Christmas card list forever.....

I have a top dawg dash cam and it records in HD. I have a 32 GB memory card. Set setting to record ten minute clips and it goes for 8 hours before it starts back recording over previously recorded clips. I've not had any issues with it at all. Had about two years now. Every once in a while it will freeze up. I'll pull battery and reset, no problem. I leave it on 24/7. It never shuts off.

    HousTank Thanks this.

Would you mind sharing what model and details you have of the top dawg?? I'd like to have one of those for my own protection.

I'm not sure what model it is. I bought it a couple years ago at the Flying J in Joplin. The Verizon dealer there was selling it. Paid like 110 bucks, tax and everything. I'm not in my truck right now, either, so I can't look and see.

Thanks RF, I'm looking on one of the big online sites, they have a number of models. I'd like to get the one you can leave on 24/7

ALL will run 24/7 as long as they are plugged in, they just loop after the card is full

btw mine also have sound so it's on when the truck is in the shop...... just incase...... got a mechanic fired and in jail for stealing some dvd's out of my truck.... could see him do it but you could see him get in the truck and you could HEAR him going thru the dvd's on the back...

How is this possible? I have a GoPro and I can't get even a fifth of that record time and I have the extra external battery. I use a 16gb micro sD but the issue is more battery life than it is memory card. Are you using an external charging source to keep it charged?

I use a 4sight dashcam and never had a problem with it yet. It records for about 7 hours before it starts to record over itself. Has two cameras built in, one wide angle and one that is zoomed in (for license plates, etc.). Films it near high definition and it has a low lux rating so it works awesome at night. Bought mine about a year ago at the T/A for about $160. You can shut off the audio if you want. It has a shock sensor so it will record an event (1 minute prior through 1 minute after the event) or you can save events manually with a push of a button.

I just viewed the video from my new Cobra 900.
Very nice, but at 1080P I still could not make out a license plate number. But it might be clear enough to enhance.
    1296P might be the ticket.

One thing I really dislike is the fact that I can't get to the advanced settings without using a smartphone app.
So I can not set the date/time, or even gain access to the higher resolution that this camera is capable of.
I got on the Cobra website and I read that there are no plans yet for making this available via PC. How lame is that?
My phone is just a stupid phone, and I have no intention of getting it connected to make it smarter. But it seems that the Cobra people think that if you are using a dash cam you should also have a smartphone to complete the deal.
