Yes sir, prerouted. Dalhart is a little north of Amarillo. My driver manager lets me go anyway I want and most times I follow their routing but the routing lately is based pretty much on shortest distance and avoiding tolls etc. I won't even go into that subject.

The shipper is very close to US6. Their route is 6-70-50-25-64-87 to Dalhart. I was just curious if it would be better (quicker) to take 70 to Denver then down 25 vs a shorter slower ride down 50. The rest of their route I'll follow.

    Thanks!!

    Places to stop...

    Sargent
    Monarch summit
    Poncha Springs
    Salida Wal-Mart
    Canon City Wal-Mart, Home Depot
Numerous dirt pull offs in between

Once you get past Canon, it's four lane to 25.

I live just east of Pueblo.

I wish to thank all responders for your insight. I've been on many of Colorados back roads and love the scenery but never 50. I'll follow Swifts route and enjoy the view..as well as keep in mind the safety concerns that were brought up. I'm always up for a new experience.

Ive found during the last few years with Swift that my best experiences OTR were on the back roads away from the freeways, especially in WY. Have met some great people along the way and have seen views that were breathtaking. US-50 it is!!

Well I took 50. I think I'll stick with 70 and 25 next time due to being quicker and less potential for a mishap. The scenery though was outstanding and it was great to see the Rockies from a back road.

50 has some serious switchbacks, hugging Rock walls and looking at some serious cliffs with no shoulders or guard rails. Pretty exciting!!
i spent the night at Monarch Summit and had a great view of the stars.

    I appreciate everyones input!!

That makes me nervous just thinking about it. Hugging rock walls and drop offs. Glad you made it safe.

Speaking from a company driver stand point with Swift. I only follow the fuel route if it makes sence. If it's with in 75 miles of fuel route I'll go the way I want if I need fuel I just tell my dm I need a new fuel route on 1/8 to 1/4 tank of fuel. Never had anything said to me about it.
