yeah me too. I've had the same DM for a while and she pretty much let's me do what I want and reop when I need to. We've got a pretty good relationship.
I had the time and was very curious about 50. Had read and heard a lot about it both good and bad so I wanted to experience it myself. Was pretty awesome drive and the scenery was unbelievable. I wouldn't want to do it with a heavy load though..I only had 19K behind me and my PornStar pulls like an ox. I know one thing now...if you go off one of those cliffs and no one sees it happen you'll probably come out in a body bag. Can't see the bottom from the road in many places. Adds to the fun!! The ladies at Monarch Pass said they don't put up guard rails so the snow plows can just push snow right off the cliffs.
Another road that I was routed on from Salida to I-25 was CO-69. Rock walls right to the edge of the road, rocks ON the road, very narrow lanes, wavy and bumpy as heck. I won't do that one again!!
Quick Routing Question...Colorado

Give it a shot and bring a camera. Especially in the Lake Fork area. -

I know it's an old thread but got me looking forward to running the 50 tomorrow. Love the 70 but it's a holiday weekend and know it's gonna be packed so just assume skip all that. I've done the 50 east to west awhile back but it's been a minute. Mayhap I'll take the 285 to 160 out of Longmont to Payson on the way back. Miss running outside of the SW. Picking up a new grill in the morning and some steaks for the trip, monarch sounds like my stop tomorrow night.
