Sometimes it pays to be covert. I started making lists of places by region that I've done drop n hooks at that usually had empties. More than a couple of times I've BS'd my way past a gate guard saying I was sent for an empty and took one. I really get impatient waiting for some keyboard beating monkey to get off their rear ends and send me a trailer solution. Besides more often than not THEIR solution ends up turning into a wild goose chase.

have you ever gone into a place looking for a specific empty trailer they want you to pick up and the gate guard says "wow you are the 3rd Swift driver looking for that trailer this morning. I will tell you what I told them, we don't have any empty trailers here"

    Oh Lord Yes!!!
i mean how stupid do the monkeys have to be to give several drivers the same trailer number!!
i think they do it on purpose just to jack us around.

Its also why often I don't respond to "special planners" notes...unless I've already developed a relationship with them. I've been outright lied to more than once to do a "favor".

You also have lazy guards that don't want to be bothered and tell you there are no trailers there ... I always gently let them know that I'm going to take a swing through the yard just to check ... more than once I've found the trailer the guard said wasn't there.

This is about as stupid as the CB rambozos who think they know all there is to know about me by what's on the side of my trailer.

Lol it's also like how the speed of your truck is some status symbol in trucking (it's not) or the good old, "Look I've been trucking for 30 years" prefix before a cb Rambo comeback. I get this a bunch when I tell many drivers they need to retire or come to Swift for a refresher course (this gets the hate stirred up big time) for nearly running me over all day.

I have dropped a many of our trailers at a Ashley yard so that they can pick it up and take it on its merry way. I have done this with Swift and many years ago when I was at Koch. Pulled them out of WI and take to OH, and pulled from MS and take to one of their drop locations in TX

Twice I've pulled Ashley trailers from Arcadia to Syracuse

Today on I-80 going east from Morris came up on and passed a US Express trailer being pulled by a Company Swifty. I've never seen that before.

I was talking to a swift driver the other day, that said all he does is haul brand new swift trailers from great dane to UPS for them to use. Its not uncommon for me to see swift drivers hauling other companies trailers. but the other way around is new to me. Ive seen a couple times in chicago a USXpress truck hauling a swift trailer. Had to do a double look when I saw that.

Saw a Weiner truck hauling Swift trailer recently in truck stop, I had to announce on cb "Alert Swift driver has just pulled into the parking lot!", received dirty look.
