If Total is "working to get new trucks in" that would put them on par with Swift. With Swift the oldest truck in the fleet is 3 years old. While it's true a new driver won't be assigned a new truck right off the bat, you'll get a serviceable truck.

Will you get a guarantee that your truck won't break down? Nope.

There will be times you will be frustrated with a string of mechanical issues. I think that will be par for the course for any company. December last year was my run of bad luck, losing six working days between two trucks. After that they stepped up and gave me an immediate replacement.

I guess it's what ever usx buys them.
My neighbor works for them Total, he says they all right but they stay east of 55 mostly unless you are teaming. And you better like NJ, PA, area that's where solos stay. Well according to my neighbor

Swift retires company trucks at around 500K miles. New trucks are assigned to teams or mentors and after a year they will have about 250K miles. Then they are assigned to a solo driver for the next two years to put about 125K per year.

When I was team dedicated my teammate had been running the account for four years. Each year he was assigned a new truck. When I became a mentor I was assigned a new truck. Running solo I had five different trucks, two of which were short term assignments to get them to point of sale or to be reassigned as company solo trucks (old L/P trucks that were being given up).

The gentleman in tractor assignment in Jurupa Valley explained the strategy for getting to the 500K miles in three years.

That's may be the strategy but I don't think it's the reality ... Lathrop posts up all the weekly/ytd metrics for urinal reading ... trucks - not drivers - are averaging less than 2000 miles a week, the number 1400 sticks in my head.

I've been lucky I guess. I've had 3 brand new trucks in the last 2.5 years as a solo Company driver. I don't think my case is typical though.
