It will vary. Depends on if you are platinum status, how many trainees you've upgraded, and how hard you run.

I'm about five months into mentoring and seem to average about $5K per month. That will increase as I upgrade more trainees and after my one year anniversary.

They don't make any more a mile but after the students first 50 hrs you run teams and the mentor gets all the miles so it just depends how hard you want to run 1000 to 1200 a week is about right if you get a good student you make more but if you get a crappy student u make less

This is very simple a new student has the best possible profit margin.I am not saying a new student is best I am just saying they have they best possible rate as far as possible cash made at least. The new requirement is 200 hours. so for a mentor it would be AT BEST 150 x top speed x (your rate).

200 Hour requirement on a new student 50 hours you both need to log active so 200-50=150.

    ****EDIT****
some students take more time then 200. But your going to need to factor lost sleep yourself into this equation+illegal driving.
Top speed can be replaced with avg speed of student. but that's why i said at best. If you train a student that does not need a full term you get $150 if they pass the test out.
A new student tested out will pay one penny per mile they run for 6 months to the mentor. But do not count on this pay.

Switches, would you like to clarify what you mean by "+illegal driving"?

First of all, I would never be in the sleeper berth with a trainee at the wheel if I didn't feel they were qualified to drive as a team. A mentor has the option to upgrade a trainee to drive as a team after the first 50 hours and if they aren't qualified then they continue driving solo with you in the passenger seat at all times.

Once a trainee is qualified to run as a team it is a weaning process. I'm there to answer questions or help them through pickups and deliveries or through difficult sections of driving. Is it more tiring to be on call during teaming, especially during the early phases of teaming? You bet.

Should anyone get into mentoring that is in it for the money? Absolutely not. If you are, then you are putting yourself, your trainee, and the motoring public at risk. You should get in it because you love to teach.

Yes, you get a penny per mile for every trainee that upgrades to solo for the first six months after they upgrade for the first year you are a mentor. The second year you are a mentor that increases to two cents and the third year that maxes out at three cents. That's a monthly bonus. Together with quarterly bonuses for going platinum or diamond and you are looking at between $10-24K per year in bonuses. However, the real bonus for me is helping someone become a safe and successful driver with a new career.

By the way, with the typical trainee by the time they log 50 hours behind the wheel my 70 hour clock is in negative numbers and we take a 34 hour reset before running team if they qualify. You can work more than 70 hours, you just can't drive if you don't have positive hours on your 70.
