DC is the worst part of the I-95 corridor. Slow again at the GWB (George Washington Bridge) going into NY; then it's easy rolling.

I was mentored in the Northeast; the difficulty level is greatly exaggerated. Beautiful country.

Day four with mentor working on 2k actual btw (behind the wheel) miles. Joisey wasn't that bad but light traffic. Load to get us out was across the river from Manhattan but too low visibility to see the city. Snowed while there so heading to IN got to drive in a wintery slush. That brought back memories of Wisconsin. Delivered just west of Indy then drove by the stadium while the Colts were ending Pittsburgh's season. Back down to Richmond via 35 and I64. Wished I'd have driven that in daylight. Charleston W Virginia is beautiful even at night. Short trip live unload here in Va. Then we head through that mega mess to deliver in Amsterdam NY. Looking forward to first visit to upstate NY.

The short drive but 3 plus hour live unload taught me a great lesson about paying attention to your 14 hour clock. My 14 hour clock pinched me from driving straight to the Amsterdam drop. Stopped at a plaza on the Joisey turnpike for driver change. I did 8 of my ten in the sleeper while mentor delivered then did a nearby drop and hook that's a live unload in PA followed by a load heading to SC I know some will say it the noob part but I'm really enjoying my travails so far. Making steady progress towards that 200 hours needed to go solo

Mentor drove us to the morning live unload in York PA so I'd not start the 14 hour again screwing up drive time. Is it just me who thinks "odd" products fall in the "high value load" category? Buddy delivered one that was diet Dr pepper. When we cracked the doors of this one......sensydyne toothpaste... go figure. I drove the mty to get our SC load. We knew this one was 46k in the box so I got to do my first scale. Customer had a scale so we ran it. Needed to slide the tandems back two holes. Release handle didn't have the stop so mentor showed me how to use a hammer. Getting back west to I-81 on secondary roads was fun as on one climb had to downshift to third in order to summit.

Drive south was beautiful on I-81. It was so cold today at one of our pit stops I saw four politicians and they ALL had their hands in their OWN pockets.

This load didn't deliver til 1/9 so we got the driver leader to t-call it at Greer terminal and we have a load we'll pick up in morning heading to IN Team driving will start after the IN delivery.

Is it just me or do days become lost when you are otr?? Seems like the only days I can remember are p/u and delivery dates? Well I do suffer "crs" you know....Can't Remember Shhhhhhschtuff....

Rest well friends and stay safe

All the GSK loads are high value ... in addition to hygiene products, they do some pharm ... wait until you pu where you unloaded ... they have a very detailed security procedure to go through to ensure the safety of their toothpaste.

Sounds like you were at Church and Dwight. I have *no* idea why the QC wants to route us out of there in such insanely bizarre ways. Sounds like you had the scenic route up over Blue Ridge Summit, and out past the Greencastle TA. Always fun with those heavy C&D loads.

    File this in your wetware for C&D... 30E - 83N - 76W to 81.

FYI, a pair of Vise-Grips is essential for those uncooperative tandem release handles. (Also the bent padlock hasps, too.)

Tried that once and when they shut the doors it was too dark to find the steering wheel. So I switched to flatbed and RGN... LOL

When you get good at driving the truck, you won't have to worry about "driving" the trailer, it will always be safely behind you.

LOL Mystic Yes when I saw GSK and high value I just assumed it was pharma. I still can't imagine Larry and his brother Darrel and his other brother Darrel sitting around plotting to jack a load of toothpaste. "Psss, hey brah check it I got the GOOD stuff, sensodyne".

Ty MsJamie I'll file that route back to 81. The way we were routed wouldn't have been bad if we were light. Couple of quaint small towns and beautiful landscapes.
