Always get my detention pay, even on those occasions I logged sleeper and did a split ... I've even cancelled out on loads after sitting for over 10 hours and it was clear the shipper was no closer to loading than they were 10 hours before and I still got my detention.

Maybe that is why Swift now requires you to approve your logs before you can be dispatched on the next load?
Let them go long enough and you can get very 'creative'.

I just go off-duty, always get detention pay. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it works...?

Are you responding to the hourly messages while on Line 1 and getting paid??

I do and have never had a problem getting detention pay. It only takes 30 seconds to respond to a message and I can't log 30 seconds of on duty time.

    HousTank Thanks this.

We've been told before, in many messages, that we NEED to respond to those messages with a detailed response. Getting a name helps as well.
If it is an extended detention the last message I respond to will be something like - "no new info, see last responses", then I ignore the rest.

I'm going to have to change my tactics. I've been told many times at my terminal that I had to be on Line4 to get paid. Seems I've been burning hours needlessly. Next time I'll try doing my responses while on Line1 or 2 and see what happens.

It might be safer to be off-duty rather than sleeping...

    HousTank and Broccelli Thank this.

I'm almost always "off duty" when I'm responding to detention messages as usually I have reason to be off-duty.

As far as detailed message, mine usually is as simple as "still waiting to be loaded/unloaded".

    HousTank Thanks this.
