It is not against policy to show you the maintenance records. Someone just doesn't know what they are doing (O/O recruiter). Seems like a moot point anyways since you are not going forward with the deal, but to answer your loaner question: yes you can get one. They try to get you one similar to your truck and they charge 10 cents per dispatched mile.

I bet that they lost the records, since the swift shop personnel are not the sharpest tools in the shed, and they are giving you the run around to cover their tails.

I wondered if you could get service information from the manufacturer. Not all maintenance and repairs are or need to be done by Swift, it is up to the O/O. Right now Steve's is at Freightliner it isn't the first time, they keep a record of what was done by them. Not the whole picture but more information. I'd assume the other major truck manufacturers do the same. As a L/O you can choose where maintenance and repairs are done, but you are right Swift should have a record of all services and repairs. Don't despair and keep looking. You don't have to take what's on the lot, ask for info on all available trucks. Nothing he liked at the Phx yard, thinking of looking at a truck elsewhere when his truck popped up in Idaho. 1750 miles on it plus a fridge.

Just out of curosity ... who told you it is against policy? .... I went to the service desk at a terminal, gave them the VIN and pulled up the service history right there ... I also went to a dealer and had them pull the warranty work records ...

By that logic, most people don't even own their cars. And most major carriers are also lease operators as well.

The gentle man mis spoke him self. He meant to say if you cant take your truck to any company you choose you are not an O/O. Sorry but most swift drivers are not O/O they are L/O. Big difference.

But what if you're not leasing the truck ... doing a straight purchase as the op is thinking about. I mean how do call somerone who is not leasing a lease operator?

He might be doing a straight purchase but tell that truck is paid off i guarantee you that he has to work for swift. So at the end of it all he might be an O/O but tell he pays that truck off he is stuck at Swift thous making him not an O/O. So he would be stuck in limbo.
